This past weekend, 16 Community Life & Advocacy (CL&A) members attended a fundraising breakfast at the Ledyard Congregational Church, to help support Citizens Helping Animals in Need. The event was packed; the group got to socialize with new friends and contribute to an important cause. Celebrate #TransitEquityDay on Sunday February 4th! Transit Equity Day is a national day of action to commemorate the birthday of Rosa Parks by declaring that public transit is a civil right. In 1955, Ms. Parks, an iconic civil rights leader, refused to give up her seat on a bus in Montgomery, Alabama in protest and to demand an end to segregation on transit systems. Governor Lamont’s Biennial Budget included $17.5 million to expand bus routes across Connecticut and install ADA-compliant bus stops and shelters.
