"We buy gift cards for our employees for their birthdays." This is the extent of most leaders' investment in culture. At Sherwood, we invested as much as 20% of our total revenue in team building. It was the best investment we ever made. Aside from having virtually no turnover for six years, our culture allowed us to tackle insurmountable, impossible challenges day in and day out. Here's one story that demonstrates this superpower: In 2018 my team was hired to support an Archdiocese on a high pressure flagship campaign with only a month and a half until rollout. The strategy we were hired to execute was primarily digital. We knew this strategy would fail after reviewing preliminary data. We met as a team, determined what we believed the path forward needed to be, had a hard conversation with our client, and received permission to reallocate the entire budget. Within three weeks, we built a local sales team who located, activated, and trained 400 volunteers to speak at every Archdiocese mass on the launch's weekend. The campaign resulted in 30,000 subscriptions in a single week. Our team and the freelancers we hired had a grand total of 0 experience in sales. That is the power of culture. When the paradigm shifts or the bottom falls from a project, your culture is your saving grace. Lesson: invest in your culture. ⏱ Invest time. 💵 Invest money. ✍ Invest attention. 💰 Christmas Money Tip #8: Gift Giving with Purpose 🎁 Navigating work or friend holiday parties? It's okay to skip the white elephant gift exchange or suggest a budget for gift-giving games to ensure inclusivity. 🌟 Let's make the season more accessible for everyone. In the spirit of mindful giving, consider being selective about your gift recipients. Break down your holiday budget into thoughtful and more budget-friendly categories. Reserve the grand gestures for close friends and family, while expressing appreciation to others with heartfelt, yet modest, tokens of kindness – a personalized card, a small treat, or chocolate can go a long way! Remember, the essence of gift-giving lies in the sentiment, not the price tag. Don't let external pressures dictate your generosity. Your approach may vary each year, and that's perfectly fine. Do what suits you and your budget best. 🌲✨ Loving these posts? Tag a friend and share with your network. #ChristmasMoneyTips #GiftsWithPurpose #BudgetFriendlyGiving #HolidaySeason

Unusual Christmas Gift Guide For Women On the JJ Barnes Blog, I share my unusual Christmas gift guide for women, featuring products from independent creatives, artists and small businesses. We all know the big businesses you can buy Christmas gifts from, and I’m certain you can find things your friends and family will love from those shops. However, this Christmas I want to encourage people to shop from small businesses and independent creatives and artists. As well as running my own small business, I’ve always put a lot of professional energy into supporting and promoting the work of others, and I truly believe that buying unusual gifts from small businesses gives both your loved one and the person you buy it from a better experience. I’ll be breaking my gift guides into categories, be it children, family, teachers, couples etc. This time I’m sharing my gift guide for women, but please don’t interpret that to mean I think the things on this list can ONLY be bought for women. This is just a way of making it an easily found and searchable list, but if you have men, children or giraffes who you think would like things from here, I’m sure the small businesses I’m recommending would be delighted. Reasons To Shop Small This Christmas You’re getting unique and personal gifts. Small businesses and independent artists often offer products and services that you can’t find anywhere else. This means that you can find truly unique gifts for your loved ones that they’ll cherish for years to come. You’re supporting people’s dreams. Many small businesses and independent artists are started by people who are passionate about what they do. When you shop at a small business, you’re helping to support someone’s dream of running their own business. You’re making a difference in the world. Small businesses and independent artists are the backbone of our economy. When you shop at a small business, you’re helping to create jobs and stimulate economic growth. #giftguide #shopsmall #smallbusiness #christmasgiftguide #blogpost READ MORE NOW https://lnkd.in/evRdu5V6

Money Coach for Moms | Host of the Moms who Money Podcast | Stop stressing about money so you can confidently invest and set your kids up for life!
It’s time to start changing the way you think about this time of year. You can make your holiday traditions and celebrations fun and magical without breaking the bank! Take a deep breath and ask yourself some critical questions like: How do I want my holidays to feel? How do I want to celebrate this time of year? Who do I really want to give gifts to? What if I only exchanged gifts with close family and friends? What if there was a dollar limit? What if there was a total gift number limit? What if you could make your own rules? What if you didn’t have to follow what everyone else is doing? Remember, that bill that you receive in January is yours. The people you’re buying gifts for don’t have to pay that bill, you do. So take a deep breath and really think about what YOU want out of the holidays and start setting some ground rules for yourself and your gift giving family. What’s something new you’d like to try this year? #WorkingMoms #WorkingMomLife #CorporateMom #MomsWhoWork #MotivatedMoms

Spending money on other people makes us feel better than buying things for ourselves, according to studies in the burgeoning field of money and happiness. That ought to make the holiday season, in all its gift-giving glory, truly the most wonderful time of the year. Happy National Self-Employed Day to all who celebrate! Self-employment can be liberating, but it can also be quite stressful, especially at busy times. There's no IT department to call, no bookkeeper, no one to handle the incoming emails. So, here are some ideas for supporting the self-employed people in your life: 1) Buy their goods and services - or recommend them to others. 2) Like, comment on and share their business-related social media posts: "My friend so-and-so does the coolest work...." 3) Visit their LinkedIn profile and endorse them for specific skills, even leave a recommendation. 4) Visit their website to learn more about what they do. (Those things are a constant effort!) 5) Shop for their next gift at https://lnkd.in/gGiGUECN Would love to see some other ideas! How else might we show the self-employed among us that we value what they do?

Day 2: Let's explore how nonprofits sustain engagement & foster purpose for teams. One way is to cultivate community beyond the office. Volunteering allows employees to engage with their broader community & see purpose in action. ❤️ Take a look at how one employee at ONEOK is spreading cheer in the community! #GNDC #employeeengagement #nonprofitlife #findyourpurpose

Christmas cards still preferred over digital optionsMore than three quarters (77 per cent) of people say they would rather receive a physical Christmas card to a digital one this year, according to Royal Mail research into card sending trends. Nine out of 10 people surveyed said they send Christmas cards – making it the top Christmas tradition, joint only with giving gifts. Only two per cent say they prefer digital versions, the One Poll survey of 2,000 people who have sent or received cards in the past reveals. The remainder were happy with either. Despite the huge number of ways to stay in touch with people […]https://lnkd.in/etm5zwdh
