Currently, ALS is considered a “diagnosis of exclusion,” meaning people experiencing ALS-like symptoms often have to undergo multiple tests to rule out other conditions. On average it takes 10-15 months from the time a person first notices symptoms to receiving an ALS diagnosis. Learn how funds from the Ice Bucket Challenge are working to change this: https://lnkd.in/eSnTGQR3

We stand with other patient advocacy groups in expressing concern and disappointment about the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Chevron. The Chevron precedent supported a regulatory environment that is flexible, informed by experts, and responsive to the needs of our communities. Overturning this precedent will have enormous impacts on the administration of federal programs – including Medicare and Medicaid – that are critical to public health. These programs are especially critical to people living with ALS and their loved ones. We anticipate that this ruling will cause significant disruption to publicly funded health insurance programs, to the stability of this country’s healthcare and food and drug review systems, and to the health and well-being of people living with ALS and their loved ones. We will continue to advocate for better policies and regulations that expedite new treatments and optimize care for the people we serve.

This month 10 years ago, the ALS #IceBucketChallenge swept across the world on social media. Donations from the challenge spurred a massive increase in our capacity to invest in promising research, the development of assistive technologies, and increased access to care and services for people living with #ALS. Thank you to everyone who took the challenge, and everyone who continues to support the ALS community today. Re-take the Ice Bucket Challenge and let's see it end! als.org/ibc
