"Say it. Mean it. Model it." Wise words from AD Club Board Member & Google Managing Director, Telecom, Scott Falzone who invited our Summer Interns to Lunch & Learn at Google's brand-new office in New York City. During the trip, Scott and his colleagues Janeice Johnson and Maren Anderson Meehan touched on their roles, adapting to the growing demand for AI, Google's Americas Sales Associate Program (ASAP) - and so much more. What an amazing opportunity!

Explore Intern (SWE & PM) @ Microsoft | Electrical and Computer Engineering @ University of Washington
Week 1 complete ✅ This past week I started my summer internship at Microsoft as an Explore intern on the Real Time Communication team. I'm eager to learn from such talented colleagues and contribute to innovative projects. I want to give a shout-out to Hong Sodoma, and the rest of the team for being so kind and welcoming! There are a few things that I have taken away that I thought to share: 1.) Navigating a professional landscape let alone a new environment can be difficult. As someone coming from a first-generational background so much is changing. Yet that makes it even equally important to make use of the resources around you. Setting up 1 on 1 ☕️ conversations has gone a long way! 2.) Critical thinking shows up in more places than just a project. For me, 8 hours of work simply isn't enough time to hit ambitious goals routinely. I really have had to lean on thoughtful reflection to evaluate the usefulness of such goals. Crazily enough, approaching situations with no right answer can be thought of similarly 🫨. Challenges and growth await this summer and I can't wait to see how this summer shapes out to be! #intern #microsoft #firstGen #newStart

Servant Leader | Incoming Google/YouTube Associate Product Marketing Manager (APMM) | Content Creator
This past weekend I had the opportunity to moderate a fireside chat with Daryl Butler, who is the VP of US, Devices and Services Marketing at Google During this conversation we spoke over all things from Daryl’s love for sneakers 👟 to the meaning of cultural marketing and how it plays a role in business 📊 So, here are three takeaways that will hopefully help you through your day, week, month, and beyond! 1️⃣ Marketing helps people connect with the things they are passionate about | so ask yourself “How do people invite brands into their lives?” + “How do brands shape behaviors and beliefs of communities?” 2️⃣ Onboarding into companies is about understanding how you can make a difference so ask yourself | “What can I do that isn’t being done today? + “Am I willing to learn as much as I want to contribute?” 3️⃣ Company culture and personal style aren’t meant to be a verses but rather compliments to one another | As the accumulation of individual personalities makes up a company’s culture Today marks week 12/12 of my internship with Google / YouTube and I’m excited to share my final summer takeaways so be sure to check back soon 🥳 #monday #interview #internship #lifeatgoogle #google

✴ Happy Friday! This week’s GRIP Summer Intern Spotlight is Sarmy Saad! Sarmy is a first year MBA student at Georgia Tech. He is currently pursuing an exciting internship opportunity in Program Management at Amazon in Mexico City, Mexico, and we loved hearing about his experience! ⬇ 🌎 What does a typical day in your new role look like? "In all honesty, a typical day as a Program Manager at Amazon is anything but predictable. Program Managers are like internal consultants and act as liaisons between various teams. Amazon is a very fast-paced environment; I am constantly tackling new challenges and working with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful outcome of my project. I often find myself diving deep into data to analyze trends and patterns but then I switch gears to meet with stakeholders and brainstorm ways to optimize our processes. That said, one trait that is crucial for a Program Manager at Amazon is bias for action and the will to make things happen." 🌎 A highlight of your experience thus far? “Tacos. But also, the project that I am assigned to is very interesting. I love that it is very specific to Mexico, yet it has a high scalability potential in other markets. It is exciting to know that I am contributing to significant revenue growth for my team at Amazon. Additionally, being in Mexico is an adventure in and of itself, which adds to the excitement!” 🌎 Any words of advice for current GT students applying to international roles? “Be curious and try to learn about the structure of the company beyond the scope of your project. Make meaningful connections with as many people as you can. Also, you are traveling abroad for a few months so enjoy the ride!” 💡 Need some inspiration for your #GlobalInternship search? The GRIP program maintains an online internship database of international internships that past Georgia Tech students have registered through GRIP. It’s never too early to start searching!
