Next time your family eats out at a restaurant, try this 20 minute exercise while you’re waiting for your meal to be served. Instructions: "Using our last name, add descriptive words that begin with the letters that best describe our family." For most of my career, I spent a ton of time and energy defining and operationalizing values at early stage startups. As Davis Smith (former CEO of Cotopaxi) points out: "Values determine behaviors, behaviors determine culture, and culture determines outcomes." Having been part of multiple startup exits including an IPO and $830M acquisition that have been life changing, organizational values done right actually work! "If you want to go far, go together" When you're changing your tech stack or making other big architectural changes, the decision is really just the start. Broad acceptance and adoption by the whole team is what you really want, and it's usually much easier if they're included in the process and you emphasize "doing" over "debating". Join us on November 16 to learn why and how you can facilitate a fun, hands-on & inclusive decision-making sprint which I call a "bake-off". Set your team up for success, get them excited about the path forward, and get better outcomes.
