Will you have a student at home this summer? Are you already trying to prevent them from imprinting their body groove into the couch? Well, we’re here to help because we’re on the lookout for folks to join our squad of seasonal superheroes! It may look like a summer job, sure, but it’s so much more than that. It’s a chance to shape lives, make lasting memories, and you know, earn some very important bucks for the old chain wallet (kids still use those, right?) for that ever-desirable freedom. So, what have we got? 🤿 Dive into the lifeguard life and make some waves as aquatic instructors. 🏐 Become the ultimate recreation and culture ambassador – playtime has never been this epic! 🏅 Turn summer into a blockbuster hit as camp leaders and programmers. 🚣♀️ Navigate the waters as a waterway events attendant – a captain’s hat is optional but highly encouraged. 🤾♂️ Slam dunk into the world of sports as our sports camp leaders! And that's just the beginning! Your kids can discover their perfect job fit in #WellandON this summer. Oh, and did we mention they’ll get their first taste of contributing to a pension? That’s right, the fun continues off the courts and camps, and begs the question, “why is there another deduction on my cheque?”. It’s never too early to start planning for the future. Right? Right? Bueller? So, encourage those you know looking for seasonal employment to apply now. Don't miss out – check out the awesome opportunities at https://lnkd.in/gNd9Cg8s.

I read my Sunday Observer slowly through the week, and I loved seeing this! 🙂❤️ "There are no prizes for being the parent who took their children on the most days out, so ignore what anyone else is doing." ❤️ There really does seem to be a huge trend for indoor 'immersive experiences' that rely a LOT on technology and especially SCREENS, at a time when we all want to try to get our kids AWAY from screens on a daily basis (Disneyland and Magic Kingdom are about to open Tiana's Bayou Adventure, which look like they rely an awful lot on screens)! I imagine the Paddington Bear experience costs SO much precisely because it's only temporary - we already have permanent attractions designed to last a least a decade like at the Merlin-owned theme parks (most visitors will want to spend just one day there, no matter how much the theme parks will push their hotels)! 🎢 I'm reading this just as I heard from David Olusoga (via a post from Laura Henry-Allain MBE (She/her)) how much he benefitted from free local public services like especially the sports/leisure complex! 🌊⚽️🎾 Because I grew up in a Special Needs primary school, we went on trips I think every week to all the nearby playgrounds, sports centres, parks, forests and other destinations (as well as central London museums/attractions), so that we could all feel comfortable living independently in the future! 🙂❤️🌳 Reading this Observer article makes me view these 'experiences' as no different than how junk food, electronic toys and online gaming all aim to influence kids over their parents! 💰😠 Also, 'story experiences'? Isn't that what theatre companies throughout the U.K. aim to provide for their family audiences for every school break? I always love seeing which licensed characters gardens, adventure parks, zoo parks and other (permanent!) attractions will team up with for those times of the year as well! 🙂❤️🌻🛶🦒 Also, what about the seaside, especially at this time of year? ❤️⚓️🦞 That's what happens when you watch something like Playdays (and Blue Peter) - it makes you want to go to those places similar to watch you just watched! 🙂❤️📺 #attractions #attractionsindustry #kidsindustry #licensing #themeparks

CEO of Make CIC, NED at Magenta Living (RP) & Independent Governor at Liverpool John Moores University
Great advice from Sacha for any industry. Make CIC started as a small studio for 5 friends. Too often I see would-be entrepreneurs or founders who only have eyes for the finished product. It’s foolish. The best thing you can do is start doing something, small, managed risk, expect to be adaptable, be responsive to opportunities and most of all just get on with something/anything. There is a difference between having a vision and being delusional.
Co Founded WHP/Parklife. Night Time Economy Adviser for Greater Manchester. Twitter/Instagram Sacha_Lord
Parklife started as a one-day student festival for a few thousand people. The Warehouse Project started as a few parties we threw because we wanted to do something different. My advice for people early in their events careers…don’t trip yourself up by trying to run before you’ve walked. Work your way up, get things wrong, change them and then get something completely different wrong the next time. You’ve got plenty of time to get things right.

🚀 Helping exceptional recruiters start, run & develop their own recruitment agencies through our effective recruitment startup support model • Isotope 🟨 •
Infinity Employment ♾️ After months & months of talking, we were lucky enough to start working with Lee back at the start of 2023. Since then, it's been a whirlwind 12 months (to say the least). 12 months on & the foundations of this business are so that they're in that really exciting position that some agencies are lucky enough to find themselves in: The ability to hire experienced talent into their business 👏🏻 (^ I suppose in this example I should emphasis talented individuals rather than just the one!) The next year (& beyond) is going to be really exciting for Infinity & I know I speak on behalf of the whole team here when I say how lucky we feel to be part of that journey 💯 #recruitmentstartup #recruitmentinvestment #recruitmentbusinesssupport #recruitmentbusinesssetup #businesstips #recruitmentstartuptips

Hiring qualified summer staff is critical to the success of our summer program offerings.
Park and recreation facilities are the heart of communities, especially during the summer. They play a crucial role in supplying employment opportunities and are spaces for countless activities tailored to children and families. With summer being the busiest time for parks and recreation, valuable programs can suffer without the addition of summer seasonal staff. From summer camps and sports leagues to outdoor events, parks and recreation is an essential avenue for fostering a vibrant and engaged community. In September 2023, our Research team sought to capture the experiences park and recreation agencies had in hiring their summer seasonal staff by conducting a survey completed by agency directors. The Summer Seasonal Hiring Report, released in February 2024, highlights the results of that survey and serves as the basis of the blog from Alexandra Ziegler, our Research Assistant Co-Op. Director of Recreation Services at City of Lindsay, Parks & Recreation Commissioner at City of Tulare, District 2 Seat at Tulare County Parks Advisory Committee, PR Coordinator at CPRS D7
Thank you to Brandon T. Taylor, D.Mgt, for coordinating with Directors in (CPRS) District 7 for a Director's Zoom on "Developing a Comprehensive Career Development Framework for California’s Parks and Recreation Profession." Background California’s park and recreation profession is facing a challenge in recruiting qualified individuals, from entry-level to advanced leadership positions. According to the Cambridge Dictionary (2023), well-qualified individuals have "appropriate experience or formal qualifications." Due to the strong US job market, park and recreation agencies have had to compete with other employers to attract and retain employees, even during the COVID-19 pandemic. (National Recreation and Park Association, 2023). Objectives 1. To identify California's parks and recreation profession's current recruitment, hiring, and career development constraints. 2. To develop a comprehensive Career Pathway and Development Framework for California’s parks and recreation profession. Research Themes Committee Members are encouraged to explore the Career Development themes, including: ⮚ Recruitment: Explore the creation of clear and progressive career pathways within the field. Including strategies to promote diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) within California’s parks and recreation workforce. ⮚ Professional Development: identify innovative training methodologies and programs that facilitate the necessary skills to enhance hirerability and deliver high-quality services. ⮚ Collaboration: Explore collaborative approaches that involve community partners in shaping the development of the parks and recreation workforce. Expected Outcomes A comprehensive Career Development framework for California’s parks and recreation profession. ⮚ Develop a competency framework: outline the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for different roles within parks and recreation organizations. ⮚ Create a recruitment strategy: to identify future professionals, including underrepresented populations, better reflecting the state's diversity. ⮚ Develop education and training: programs that align with the profession's competency framework and meet the needs of existing and future workers. Significance This study aims to create a framework for Career Development and employment in California's parks and recreation profession. It will address challenges and barriers to improving diversity, retention, and expansion while contributing to the literature on Career Development in this field.
