🎉✨ Today marks a milestone not just for the #SouthDakota Black Chamber of Commerce but for the entire state! As we kick off #BlackHistory Month, I am happy to also help celebrate a new era of economic empowerment with the inauguration of the #SDBCC. Their mission is really simple: To harness the untapped potential within the South Dakota Black community and to make #diversity the cornerstone of their economic strength. They are here to tackle the challenges faced by minority and Black-owned businesses. From combating discrimination to opening doors to resources and opportunities - they are dedicated to leveling the playing field. 💼 The SDBCC isn't just an organization; it's a movement. With innovative programs, essential services, and strategic financing, they are empowering #entrepreneurs to overcome hurdles and achieve their full potential. As we honor the pioneers during #BlackHistoryMonth, let's also lay down the groundwork for the leaders of tomorrow. Everything changes when someone calls out your leadership and believes in you. And the power of believing in others is a phenomenon known as the Pygmalion effect. Its influence can be felt in one’s professional life, local community, or a classroom. As the Executive Director of Black Developers Forum (BDF) when it comes to believing in our mission, and investing time and resources to help our members realize their potential as Black real estate developers — I know the sky is the limit for what we can achieve together. Black Developers Forum wishes to acknowledge our Inaugural Corporate Partner, Swinerton. I had an incredibly inspiring moment listening to Gov. Wes Moore, Maryland's first Black Governor in 246 years and the third African American elected Governor in U.S. history 🇺🇸, speak at the National Minority Supplier Development Council (NMSDCHQ)’s annual conference in Baltimore this week. NMSDCHQ truly outdid themselves with this conference, centered around the theme "Close the Equity Gap." Every session I attended deeply resonated with me and planted seeds of change in my soul and mind that have already started to take root. Each day was meticulously curated, providing a wealth of information and fostering valuable connections. I'm proud to be a part of this council because they serve as a gateway for minority businesses to connect and network with corporate buyers. Keep pushing those boundaries on our behalf. I appreciate you for that. 😳It was truly a surprise to learn that Gov. Wes Moore had never run for any political office before running for Governor, and yet he emerged victorious. His journey is a testament to the power of determination, vision, and the belief in making a positive change. It's a reminder that it's never too late to step into the arena of entrepreneurship and create a lasting impact, even when you didn't think it was possible. He emphasized that the path to leadership and business ownership is unique for each of us, not defined by a linear trajectory but by our willingness to take the first step and the courage to keep moving forward. His accomplishments show what's possible when we set high goals and work diligently toward them. Being in the presence of such a trailblazer left me with a renewed sense of purpose and the belief that we can all make a difference. Let's continue to draw inspiration from those who break barriers and defy expectations. With determination and the courage to take that first step, we can all create meaningful change in our communities and beyond. I don't know about you, but I'm ready to take my business to the next level! THE AFFORDABLE HOUSING INDUSTRIAL COMPLEX IS BROKEN AND NOT WORKING FOR AMERICAN TAXPAYERS Veteran Housing Corp would ask every TAXPAYER to demand and get answers from their elected and appointed government officials the below questions as they relate to any affordable, workforce, or supportive housing project in your community! 1. How much local, state, and federal funding, tax credits, or other government benefits or incentives did the project receive? 2. What is the affordability period for each project? Is the affordability period permanent and in perpetuity? 3. What guarantees exist have your local, state, and federal government officials obtained in writing that rents will not go up or that tenants will not be displaced or evicted after the "affordability period expires?
