🌊 Navigating Leadership Waters: Which Boat for Today's Challenges?
🚢 In the vast sea of business challenges, leadership remains the compass guiding organizations through uncharted waters. But which skills are most relevant today? Hereour 5-cents:
🚤 The Speedboat:
* Represents fun, agility, and innovation.
* Encourages quick adaptations and risk-taking.
* Drives for quick wins, but may overlook long-term impact.
🎣 The Fisher Boat:
* Signifies collaboration and shared success.
* Fosters community, teamwork, and a customer-centric approach.
* Challenges arise in a changing context, requiring reflective skills
* Drives beyond immediate goals - still, like the tanker, not always up to speed.
🚢 The Ark:
* Symbolizes sustainability, consistency, and resilience.
* Prioritizes long-term success and inclusion of all.
* Considers environmental and social impact.
* Upholds a commitment to leaving a positive legacy for future generations.
At the #FutureofLeadershipSalon we believe companies who not just drive for profit but also purpose, people and planet will survive the turbulence of the wild economic ocean long-term.
That's way we empower leaders to step into a #regenerativeLeadership mindset.
⛵ Regenerative Leadership Approach:
Collaboration is the wind in your sails; diverse strengths contribute to a collective journey. Steering towards impact and sustainability is essential for leaders navigating turbulent waters.
Reflect on all boat analogies: Is the future ...
🌍 Exploring New Islands as a Fleet:
Successful collaboration involves recognizing diverse talents in the business ecosystem. Leaders prioritizing sustainability future-proof organizations and contribute positively to the world. We see speedboats, even fisher boats but very rarely an ark.

Intrinsic Value | The Lowveld Trails Co. 'Wilderness Rating' system is a way of measuring the intrinsic value of an area. The system is based on a range of factors, including the ecological integrity of an area, the level of infrastructure (roads and buildings), and the ambiance or 'spirit-of-place'. It provides participants with an opportunity to make informed decisions when choosing a Primitive Trail experience.
The Wilderness Rating system is important because it helps to raise awareness around the value of Wilderness areas. It also provides a way to measure the impact of human activities at a landscape level, and to identify areas (especially within protected areas) that are losing intrinsic value.

As many of you know, I am honored to be part of a team sailing tomorrow June 21, from Newport to Bermuda. My team and I have practiced extensively for this race, guided by advanced simulations and forecasts.
Sailing has taught me quite a bit as a leader. As my team and I sail through unchartered waters in the vast sea, I'll be sharing here "Everything I Know about Leadership, I learned on my Sailboat." https://lnkd.in/eZHrnJfM
Commanding The High Seas: A Tale of Leadership🌟
Imagine standing at the helm of a mighty vessel⛵. That's YOU – the indomitable captain⚓. Your ship, a majestic beacon reflecting your values, mission, and vision, doesn't just cruise; it pioneers. You're here to WIN🏆. Undeterred, decisive, relentless – you navigate through the capricious waves and unpredictable winds with unyielding resolve.
Picture the wind. YOU embody that unseen, but essential force, fueling the team's journey towards success🌈. Like a vibrant sail filled with gusty wind, your words and actions are the momentum propelling your ship forward.
Within the uncharted waters lies your true test as a skipper. Your adaptability is essential as you chart the right course, correcting where necessary. This isn't a one-person operation though. You've meticulously built a formidable crew, each member's strength harnessed to counter the unpredictability of the sea.
Your crew is your company👥.
As an unparalleled leader, you've conditioned your team to glide effortlessly through the mercurial waters, even in your absence. Because at the end of the day, true leadership is about creating a system that works efficiently even when the captain is off deck.

This week I’ve been thinking about the practicalities of activating purpose.
A myth I often come across on what it means to be purpose-driven is that purpose should make every decision an organisation or leader makes clear, easy and without doubt.
In reality, that’s not always the case.
Remembering a multi-day team hiking challenge I took part in on Dartmoor a few years ago, as we slogged through the driving rain and thick fog from point to point, it was our map - not the compass - that helped us decide when to climb the near-vertical slope and when to go the long way around. But our compass always kept us pointed in the right direction, so that no matter the detour, it was in service of getting to our objective.
As a leader, you need both the map and the compass - a purpose (your compass) to point you forwards to your long-term goal, and clear values and behaviours (your map) that help you work out how to get there, when to make the hard decisions to conquer the cliff, and when to take the route of less resistance.

Louis Guelette said to Mteto Nyati
“You are here and there is no one like you. I don’t know how you are going to be received, but what you should know is that I have confidence in you. I know your capabilities. Let us walk the journey together.”
Now, read📖these words as if they are directed to you this morning and in your career. I know I did, and it is all about the energy we get from perspective.
Moreover, sources of inspiration🔋and leadership are not kept secret. All we have to do is to just take ownership of all the good and right things around us.
All the best!

Another week to share with my fellow navigators of the business oceans! Let’s talk about setting the scene.
Just as sailors seek higher ground for a broader perspective, we're diving into the metaphorical crow's nest to gain insights into business strategy and leadership.
Let's embark on this journey together! Share your thoughts on navigating business storms.
Have you ever felt like you're navigating through a crisis, much like a ship in rough waters? The crow's nest, that elevated point atop the mast, holds a special significance in maritime exploration. It provides a vantage point, a broader perspective that extends beyond the immediate horizon. Similarly, in the business world, staying entrenched in the day-to-day operations limits our view. Over the next few days, let's explore how climbing the metaphorical crow's nest can transform your approach to business.
Can you relate to the idea of being caught in the daily grind of your business, unable to see beyond the immediate challenges? Share your thoughts.
