As a Recruiter, I talk to a lot of people — candidates, leadership, colleagues, vendors, etc. The questions I get often are “why did you join Osano?” and “what is it like to work at Osano?” To boil it all down, I tend to frame it as why I work at startups. TL;DR: it’s the builder, creator, and initiator in me. I build from my experience and I put those idea to pavement. You can think all you want about a problem, but it’s the taking action on the solution that is EVERYTHING in a startup. I got into the startup space a full 10 years ago and I wouldn’t change it for the world. Having been in non-profit arts, specifically opera + ballet, I really needed something different. The chaos, constantly moving faster than you hope, and taking on newer, bigger challenges you never dreamed of — it’s something so special ✨ Granted, it’s important you’re around great people — who are incredibly talented, thoughtful, and take action. In my experience, the people make or break the whole thing, with culture being a strong #2. A few of the biggest things I hear about the Osano team: 🤝 we’re supportive — people go out of their way to help each other out 💜 we’re mission + purpose-driven — we’re building something that makes society better! 🙌 we’re inclusive + actively look for people who are different from us 🎯 we’re autonomous and give everyone a level of trust to do our work Startups aren’t for everyone though. They’re incredibly fast, constantly changing, and for me, each week there’s at least a few days where I think “am I good at this?” 😅 if you want to grow A LOT and challenge yourself every day, then a startup might be for you! We made a major change at Flywheel about a month ago and hired a Head of Ops & Product. He runs the day to day operations and project delivery with a north star of closing the gap between what a client wants/needs and what we deliver. It was a tough role to fill - I have big expectations for what our team does and how we do it. Here are some of the things I've learned: 1. There's a big difference between doing things differently and wrong but sometimes they look the same. 2. The onboarding process is much longer than I expected. It's easy to forget "how much you know" and need to transfer. Realistically, transferring your knowledge to someone takes months and years, not 30 or 60 days. 3. Not everything's going to be perfect or the same. We're not going to be the same team we were before so there's going to be some evolution, it's natural, and we have to accept that. Over the last week, I've started noticing the results. I'm involved in less day to day meetings than ever before, clients are loving the projects we're delivering, and our new team member is demonstrating that they understand the new projects we're working with. Hiring a senior role has been a big step in the journey to building a healthy scalable agency. I wanted to share this for some transparency of our journey to get there.

Reflecting on my journey from the early days at Uber, I've witnessed firsthand the evolution of company cultural values. Some have profoundly influenced me I never imagined that we would be coming up with our own values. I've often pondered: do we truly need values? do we need them now? Is this a one-person ideology? Yes, we do, and no, it's not. Company values are crucial; they provide a framework for decision-making, unite teams under a common mission, and cultivate a positive work culture. They also serve as a moral compass and reference in daily operations and at crossroads that require difficult decisions. More importantly, they define how we work together and can foster a positive work environment. I'm thrilled to unveil Partment's cultural values, V1. This moment feels right—it's a natural progression, shaped by the collective efforts, debates, and inspired by strategies of our core team. I am confident that these values will evolve as the organization grows, but they feel right for today and the future. Curious to meet the faces behind Partment? Check out the first comment. Exciting opportunities await as we grow! We're actively hiring across Sales, Product, Business, and Tech. Interested in joining our journey? Founder & Co-CEO at cargo.one | 👨🚀 👩🚀 We are hiring! Join our team of ambitious Cargonauts and transform global air cargo.
Time flies when you are having fun… or when you are working crazy hard. Laura has been an instrumental part of our journey at cargo.one, and I can't express enough gratitude for her tireless dedication, both as an exceptional Cargonaut and as a friend. It's rare to find outstanding talent willing to dive into the uncertainty of a startup, especially when there's no big money, no prominent customers, and no fancy VC backing. Laura's decision to join Moritz, Mike and myself very early on, speaks volumes about her character and growth mindset. But joining is only the beginning, as anyone who's built something from the ground up in the face of uncertainty knows, persistence, with its wild highs and crushing lows on a never-ending loop, is the true test in any venture. Laura has been there every step of the way, wearing various hats, helping us establish functions from scratch, and contributing to cargo.one's growth into what it is today. As an entrepreneur, it's always tough to bid farewell to exceptional individuals. What makes it a bit easier is knowing that Laura, even after all the intensity, is setting out to build something of her own. Now, you have the opportunity to bring her on board and benefit from the wisdom she's gained from our experiences. She can help you build your operating system, implement goal-setting frameworks, establish hiring structures, and much more. You'll have someone who not only understands the theory but has the practical know-how to create a resilient, long-lasting organization. And she does it all with integrity, a smile, and a willingness to tackle the tough issues head-on. Thank you so much, Laura, for your incredible hard work and for always standing by my side, helping me become a better leader. Your future endeavors are bound to be as remarkable as your contributions to cargo.one. 🚀🚀🚀
Almost 5 years ago when joining cargo.one, I took a leap of faith and jumped into a new adventure, which turned out to be one of the best decisions and most exciting challenges of my professional life so far. Earlier this year, I decided to leave and took some time in beautiful parts of the world to reset, to reflect, to explore, to wonder. To get inspired and excited about a new big chapter after leaving a place that will always be so dear to my heart. I am more than grateful for the past years, with all the ups and downs that come with being part of building a business and team from scratch. From assembling the first office chairs in Berlin to growing into a truly global and remote-first company with over 120 Cargonauts from 30+ nationalities in over 20 countries and a product available across 60 different markets. Oliver, Moritz, Mike and all Cargonauts, thank you for everything! 👩🚀🧑🚀 Now, it has been time for me to take another leap of faith and, again, embrace the unknown by embarking on my own “solopreneurial” journey and continue doing what I am truly passionate about: Working with early-stage founders and their teams on building high performing organizations by 🎯 Implementing OKRs as a company-wide management framework ⚙️ Setting up a strong company Operating-System that allows for better & faster execution ⚡ Giving guidance on high pressure zero-to-one projects (e.g. setup of new functions, hiring processes, remote work…) Depending on the company needs, the collaboration can have different shapes and forms - ranging from one-off projects to ongoing weekly advisory/ interims CoS engagements. For some time now, I already got the chance to collaborate with my friends at Point Nine (a HUGE thanks for the support Louis), work with amazing companies such as 🧑🌾 Wikifarmer and 💚Cozero and look forward to supporting many other teams moving forward. If you think I might be able to help your team or a company you know, I look forward to connecting!

This month we’re shining the spotlight on some of the awesome idibu team 🙌 You’ve probably met them all throughout your idibu journey, but how much do you really know about them? 🤔 We asked each team member 5 questions about themselves, and for our first week, it’s Ben Bird! Ben is the Whitelabel Manager and spreads the word about our Whitelabel product. Ben lives in Spain and has been with idibu for over 13 years!! 🤯 Here’s a bit more about Ben... 1️⃣ How long have you been in the industry? An amazing 13 years!! 2️⃣ What do you think is the industry's biggest challenge right now? Talent Shortages and a Skills Mismatch - Many industries are experiencing talent shortages in specialised roles, while there's a surplus of candidates for other positions. The real challenge right now lies in finding the right talent with the required skills AND cultural fit for a particular organisation, which in turn helps employers retain the top talent and reduce churn. 3️⃣ And on the flip side, the biggest opportunity? Right now? AI and Automation... Artificial intelligence can streamline the recruitment process by automating tasks like resume screening, initial candidate assessment, and even initial communication. This can allow recruiters to focus on higher-value tasks like relationship-building and strategy. That said, while technology can streamline processes, there's still a big challenge in finding the right balance between automation and maintaining the human touch in recruitment. Ensuring that technology enhances rather than hinders the recruitment experience is key! 4️⃣ Can you describe idibu in 3 words? Friendly, reliable, transparent. 5️⃣One thing people might not know about you? I like to put on the gloves and pads and enjoy a good kickboxing session at the gym after work. Usually with a group half my age and in their prime, so I don't often come out on top these days! Amazing! Thanks, Ben 😄 Connect with Ben and drop him a DM to chat #MeetTheTeam #RecruitmentTechnology #RecTech #Whitelabel
