I’ve seen the impact that a workplace incident or injury can have. Its ripple effect touches family members, co-workers and entire communities. That’s why safety is so important to me and why, at PCL Construction, we believe everyone has a responsibility to ensure they’re working safely. When we prioritize safety, we aren’t just preventing incidents — we’re protecting each other and our loved ones. We’re making a promise to each other to be safe and make sure everyone gets home safe to those that matter most. #SafetyWeek2024 #PCLBuildsSafe #SafetyCulture #ValueEveryVoice

As we kick off Safety Week 2024, I want to emphasize the importance of this year’s theme: Value Every Voice: Encourage, Listen, Empower. Having worked in this industry for many years, I’ve seen firsthand the critical role that safety plays in construction. I urge you all to embrace this year’s theme. Be vigilant when you see a potential concern and have the courage to speak up about it. Whether you’re a skilled trade professional or a new apprentice, everyone plays a crucial role in maintaining a safe job site. Together, let’s foster a culture in our industry where we value every voice, encourage open communication, actively listen to each other and empower everyone to prioritize safety. #SafetyWeek2024 #PCLBuildsSafe #SafetyCulture #ValueEveryVoice

As we welcome Safety Week 2024, we want to emphasize the importance of "personal ownership and responsibility." This years theme - Value Every Voice! It's about staying focused and paying attention to all activities around you. Beyond the extensive safety standards, processes, and procedures that we all adhere to; if you notice an unsafe condition or behavior, say something! If you see it, you own it, if you walk by it, you condone it. #SafetyFirst #SafetyWeek2024 #PersonalResponsibility #ValueEveryVoice #SafetyAwareness

🛑 As we recognise Safety Awareness Week, we would like to highlight a critical but often overlooked aspect of safety: psychological safety. Creating an environment where team members feel safe to express ideas, ask questions, and admit mistakes without fear of ridicule or retribution is crucial for innovation and growth. When we have psychological safety, we not only enhance individual well-being but also drive collective success. Let's celebrate Safety Awareness Week by committing to open communication, mutual respect, and the courage to support each other. Together, we can build workplaces where everyone feels valued and secure. #SafetyAwarenessWeek #PsychologicalSafety #TeamSupport #WorkplaceWellbeing

As Pioneers (Exxaro Belfast Employees) we gathered today to launch the "Stop & Fix" campaign. A day in which we had to pause everything to focus on safety. The concept of "Stop and Fix" is not just a phrase; it's a strong statement that holds the potential to transform our safety culture. "Stop & Fix" means having the courage to stop any operations when unsafe conditions are identified, and dedicating the necessary time and resources to rectify the situation before we continue with work. By embracing a "Stop & Fix" approach, shows that the well-being and safety of our workforce takes priority above all else. We instill a sense of responsibility, not only within the pioneers themselves but also within the entire Belfast Mine together with our Business Partners. When we create an environment where workers feel empowered to speak up about safety concerns, we pave the way for continuous improvement. Our Business Unit Manager, Musa Mabasa (MBA) sent a clear message today that safety should never be perceived as a roadblock to reaching out business objectives, but rather as a key component that supports the success of our business. By fostering a culture where every individual actively contributes to identifying safety risks and proposing solutions, we create a safer and more productive work environment. # Our 5 Safety Focus Areas *Incredible Leadership *A zero tolerance approach will save your live *Safety Training for life *No Mini - Hira, No work *Talk about safety everyday #STOPANDFIX #BACKTOBASICS #ifYouPassItYouOwnIt #ZEROHARM #KHETHAUKUPHEPHA
