“There is strong evidence that DE—even à la carte DE—improves academic outcomes for students, including completing high school, enrolling in college, and completing college degrees.[21] And DE has been shown to benefit low-income students,[22] Black and Hispanic students[23][24][25], and students who initially struggled academically in high school.[26]” These results alone are worth investing in dual enrollment! #dualenrollment #reachingstrugglingstudents #studentsuccess

Incredible session today with Russell Lowery-Hart, Pascale Charlot, and Joshua Wyner about the critical work community colleges are doing in higher education. Particularly inspired to think about how we can better support transfer students coming from high school or going on to 4 year institutions. Today - roughly 80% of community college students want to go on to get a BA. Only 16% actually do. How can we change this statistic?

Be sure to check out the chapter "Disruption is the Norm: Responding to the Future at Xavier University of Louisiana" about the #LearnEverywhereXULA, how CAT+FD taught Xavier University of Louisiana faculty to teach remotely.
Had the pleasure to edit this book with Dwaine Plaza and share the efforts of educators nationwide. A number of Oregon State University contributions including Inara Scott Erin Bird Alix Gitelman, and contributions from a host of colleges and universities (Elizabeth Yost Hammer Chris Hakala Derek Bruff Kevin Gannon Leslie Cramblet Alvarez, Ph.D. ). It is on sale this January. Useful read for all higher ed folks!! "This book illustrates how higher education responded to the COVID-19 pandemic and grew from it. The pandemic impacted faculty development, drew a greater focus on the measurement of effective teaching in higher education, and provided a better understanding of what was needed to better aid educators in colleges and universities nationwide. The stage is set for a more resilient higher education with chapters illustrating new paradigms and promise." https://lnkd.in/gGSZ8b2t
