3.3. TNBC Awereness Day. El 03 de Marzo en Estados Unidos y Europa se reconoce la necesidad de prestar atención a un subtipo de cáncer de mama caracterizado por ser más agresivo y que afecta a mujeres cada vez más jóvenes; este es el Cáncer de mamá Triple Negativo (#TNBC). Si bien las opciones de tratamiento para este subtipo de cáncer de mama son más reducidas, se han logrado avances terapéuticos significativos que permiten impactar el curso de la enfermedad. En Chile alrededor del 11.5% de mujeres con cancer de mama serán diagnosticadas con este subtipo; 2 mujeres diarias se enfrentarán a este diagnóstico cada año y asistirán a sus médicos tratantes con la esperanza de encontrar opciones de tratamiento eficaces. Veronica and Shelley from Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer are spreading the love by delivering "hugs in a bag" to Jason at the Macmillan Centre for Breast Cancer patients, The Royal Stoke University Hospital. Through the "Hug-in-a-Bag" initiative by Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer (LFBC), we're providing more than just items; it's a warm embrace in a bag. Simple yet essential things like water bottles, moisturisers, and books, offered to patients undergoing their first chemotherapy session, all distributed by dedicated nurses. The Little Warrior Foundation is matching up to $15k in donations between now and giving Tuesday on 11/28. There is nothing more important to me and my family than this organizations mission to find a cure for Ewings Sarcoma (cancer). As many of you know, my 11 year old son Jaxon has been battling Ewings Sarcoma for more than two years. It’s unreal to think that with so many advances in medicine, the treatment for Ewings Sarcoma has barely changed over that last 30 years and it’s not because the existing treatment is effective or is a cure. This is absolutely a funding issue, without proper funding, we lack the research required to develop new clinical trials and find a cure for Ewings Sarcoma. So Little Warriors like Jaxon (see pic) are hosting car washes, bake sales and other fund raisers to help fund research while in the middle of treatment. A couple facts about childhood cancer and Ewings Sarcoma (1) Only 4% of The National Cancer Institutes budget goes to childhood cancer research. (2) The newest drug in the fight against Ewings Sarcoma was approved by the FDA over 30 years ago in 1987. 🏆 Over the next two weeks, watch us highlight “Champions of EHE.” These people impact our mission by advocating for EHE and inspiring and empowering those affected by this rare cancer. One such Champion is Rick Harrington. “When I was first diagnosed 2 1/2 years ago, I was very fearful of the unknown. Rare cancers have additional difficulties besides the cancer diagnosis. EHE research continues to progress thanks to The EHE Foundation. Like many rare cancers, there is no standard treatment, which also makes it challenging to receive treatment approval from an insurance provider. EHE presents itself in so many ways. I have an aggressive form of EHE and am grateful for the availability of clinical trials. I may be on my third trial, but I still have hope!  I have an oncologist experienced with EHE that regards my situation and has options through these trials, which is priceless,” said Rick Harrington.
