As a 9-5 corporate worker, I've noticed a lack of real-time sharing of problems and challenges we face in our daily lives. I must admit, I've been guilty of following this pattern too. But I want to see more posts shedding light on the economic issues facing Lagos, Nigeria, such as the daily struggle of navigating through standstill traffic just to cross the Third Mainland Bridge, the impact of food scarcity on corporate workers, and the ongoing fuel scarcity. Spending four hours searching for fuel today is not uncommon. It's time to encourage more open dialogue about the realities of the workplace and career paths. Indeed, certificates are attractive. However, the challenge lies in fulfilling the promises implied by your certifications. If you cannot practically develop solutions based on your certifications, then it likely was a waste of time. A few weeks ago, I provided counsel to a young lady torn between securing a job before pursuing a masters degree or obtaining the degree to access better job opportunities. My advice was simply for her to determine what she wanted to become a master of. To do that, one has to build experience in a certain field even though I know it’s not the norm. It seems fitting to reintroduce my experience to the exceptional individuals I've engaged with here over the past two months, between the Haoma challenge and now.
