💡As we highlight the achievements of former IOLC contributors and the impact the conference had on them, we invite you to join us at #IOLC2024 in Paris 🇫🇷 this November and see how networking can lead to international collaborations. When asked about his experience, here's what Dr. Mullett had to say: 👉🏽👉🏼“The important #collaboration provided by the IOLC meetings has led to exciting opportunities for the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer. Leveraging connections made at IOLC, we are initiating expansion of our accreditation system into international sites, to improve the quality of #cancercare in other countries.” -Timothy Mullett, MD, MBA, FACS, Medical Director, University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center Network Development 🗓️ 10-12 November 2024 📲 https://bit.ly/4blsooG . #CancerCare #MedicalInnovation #GlobalHealth #Networking #Impact #oncology #leadership #knowledgesharing #continuingeducation #patientcare #mandriergroup #mandriermeetings #oncologyadmin #EUCancerPlan #valuepartnerships #globalhealthcare #valuebasedcare #cancerservices #oncologyadministration #OncologyLeadership #Paris #EuropeanHealthCare #innovation #insights #bestpractices #ClinicalLeadership

👉 𝐖𝐢𝐧𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐭𝐡 𝐂𝐚𝐫𝐞 𝐈𝐧𝐧𝐨𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝 One of the ten awarded Pioneers of Healthcare projects, titled ‘ReBreCa - AI-driven Breast Cancer Diagnosis in Realistic Clinical Workflows’ aims to develop an AI-based prediction model for breast cancer diagnosis that performs as well as the radiologist, does not require large detailed annotated data sets, and can explain the reasoning behind its decisions. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers having caused 685 thousand deaths worldwide in 2020. AI-based early detection methods can decrease mortality and reduce workload, with radiologists in particular. Clinical adoption of AI-based methods, however, is prevented by their unrealistic assumptions, lack of understanding and transparency in clinical decision-making. This project is a promising Twente cooperation between the University of Twente and ZGT. Collaboration between community #oncologists and academic medicine is more vital now than ever, according to The Wall Street Journal op-ed which focuses on the results of a study led by Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Mikkael Sekeres with the National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute and the National Cancer Institute. The study compares community versus central pathologist’s case reviews for the same cohort of patients. It reveals a stark difference in diagnosis for 1 in 5 patients. This echoes our own data. In fact, AccessHope subspecialists recommend proposed changes to #cancercare plans 97% of the time. Strong collaboration between general oncologists and subspeciality experts is essential to not only get an accurate diagnosis but also the right treatment for optimal outcomes. #SecondOpinions #TreatmentAdvances https://hubs.la/Q020JbgL0

According to a report presented at the Association for Cancer Research (AACR), early-phase Cancer trials have seen a significant increase in diversity across all demographic dimensions, including age, race, gender, and regional factors. The study was presented by an MBBS clinical fellow, Maria Farooqi from National Cancer Institute (NCI), who stressed the importance of reaching out to marginalized communities to improve patient enrollment and diversity in future trials. Additionally, embracing decentralized clinical trial technologies in the trial environment can help enrich diversity by addressing protocol complexities and enhancing coordination between mid and small-scale clinical sites.
