Around 80% of South Africans with a Teaching English as a Foreign Language (TEFL) qualification land a job within three months. This is according to a survey performed by The TEFL Academy, a South African course provider. Apostille Legislation said that South African teachers in public or private schools in China can earn a wide range of salaries. Firstly, one needs to distinguish between the several tiers of cities where English is commonly taught. Tier 1 refers to megacities such as Shanghai, Beijing, Shenzhen, and Guangzhou. Tier 2 refers to medium-sized cities, while Tier 3 comprises smaller cities like Yangzhou and Foshan, according to the organisation. https://lnkd.in/denfGBwj

EF Education Firstโs annual survey โEnglish Proficiency Index 2023โ ranks China at 82, a low proficiency nation. A drop of 20 places from the 62nd position in the 2022 Index. This puts China way behind Singapore, Philippines, Malaysia, Hong Kong and South Korea. English proficiency among Chinese citizens has been on a downward trend. Back in 2021 and 2020, China ranked 49 and 38 respectively, at least holding up as a moderate proficiency nation. The decline in English proficiency is most acute among 18- to 20-year-old Chinese. Since 2020, use of foreign textbooks have been banned in Chinese primary and middle schools. Since 2021, primary school leavers are no longer tested English language proficiency. Last year, Xian Jiaotong University, a top 20 nationwide institute, became the first top-tier Chinese university to remove English tests as a graduation requirement. What does this mean for higher-ed institutes recruiting students from China? Expect Chinese students to generally arrive with lower English proficiency - time to bolster up the presessional language course offering. Expect Chinese students to rely even more on China-based education agencies - choosing recruitment partners who can represent you fair and square is more important than ever. Good news though, international Chinese students are still looking to study abroad? Are you ready to for climb? If in doubt, give me a call. My team and I are standing by to help. #China #InternationalStudentRecruitment #EnglishProficiency Link to EFโs annual survey in the first comment below.

Are you a Native English Speaker struggling to find stable employment in your current country or field? Consider expanding your job search to China - the demand for qualified English teachers is high. LinkedIn suggested Jobs in South Africa for similar roles and I saw how South African's are being underpaid by South African companies employing people to teach the same international students. In this case, the middle man keeps all the money and pays the people doing the actual work peanuts. Teaching English abroad can be a rewarding career change that provides financial stability and new experiences. In China, you'll find well-paying roles at international and private schools with supportive administrations and well-behaved students. The typical salary range for a certified English teacher in China is 20,000-45,000 RMB per month (roughly R65052-R117093). Most schools also pay for your flights, provide housing or a housing allowance and a welcome bonus. Living costs in China are significantly lower than countries like South Africa. A few international English teaching opportunities currently listed include: https://lnkd.in/eDPrGy-Y https://lnkd.in/eDPrGy-Y https://lnkd.in/eutGDgah https://lnkd.in/eRXBPDxD https://lnkd.in/eHhg7c8r https://lnkd.in/eqND_7ye Don't settle for low salaries back home when you can earn a comfortable living abroad. Teaching in China allows you to utilize your language skills while immersing yourself in a new culture. If travelling isn't an option, online English teaching jobs also offer competitive pay with flexibility. If you hold a degree of any kind and are a native English speaker, I encourage you to consider this alternate career path. Your qualifications are in high demand overseas. Let me know if you have any other questions! #TEFL #ESL #TeachingJobs #AlternativeCareer #WorkFromHome

โBilingual Educationโ has become a buzzword in the education sector, especially in China. Due to the stateโs evolving policies and market demands, Chinese-English bilingual education in China has never been more attractive. China has a long history with bilingual education. From the establishment of the Pakistan Embassy College in Beijing 1969, to the emergence of multiple local and foreign education groups from the 1980s, bilingual education is not a new concept. However, weโve found that with the changes of policies in China, new challenges in bilingual education have emerged, and the best approach to compliance is in the spotlight. In response, we want to ensure providers of bilingual education remain informed and confident in their offerings so that they can better adapt to the current situation. Today we release the Bilingual Schools Report! This guide tracks everything from the contemporary value of bilingual education, how providers can keep on top of the regulatory changes in China, interviews with world-leading EAL experts, and a comprehensive directory of every single bilingual school in China. If youโre interested, please email melody@ventureeducation.org to find out more about subscription so you can understand the Chinese K12 education sector more deeply. #BilingualEducation #BilingualSchools #InternationalEducation

In general, Japanese language schools are regulated tightly. Schools are designed for students to prepare going to universities/colleges. In addition, mostly 1 year/1.5 years/2 years courses and starting from Spring or Autumn. Because of this, it is difficult for many people who would like to improve their Japanese skills for own goals (for business, to enjoy travel in Japan, etc.) as well as for their limited conditions (e.g. taking course during 4 weeks holiday). It is quite different from many English schools in Australia and other countries can offer to students. I am sure that Japan can boost a number of oversea students in the future, however while people making a policy and rule are not so familiar with this issue, at this stage, a policy over foreign students are seemingly less productive. Quality is the matter not quantity though. Anyway, not the best for both schools and students. I wish I can work for better policy and rule making. https://lnkd.in/gi3ASgbM
Can Japan boost its foreign student count to 400,000?

A recent discussion during a meet between our PM and his Singaporean counterpart has sparked a fiery debate among many Malaysians. As reported by the STAR newspaper, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has requested Singapore "๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐ฌ๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐, ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐ ๐๐ ๐๐๐ ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐." Do you think this is the right solution to raising the standard of education in our country, especially in English language learning and teaching? How could we possibly do this better, instead of pooling (and possibly, allocating exorbitant funds) external talent? Full article can be found at the link below: https://lnkd.in/g2miWfQG
