Who are the people you can’t imagine life without? Here’s why it’s important to let them know that. Watch Gus Worland’s full talk on how to check in on the mental health of those closest to you: http://t.ted.com/G3qIydf #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth
It is about building healthy boundaries, helping people with self-awareness first. Remembering there are takers (some habitual) and givers, Be sure to have your balance and choices. Give, while mentoring so that person can restart. It is helping without enabling that person. Even in airplane emergencies, they say; ‘Put your oxygen mask first then help the other passenger." Just a thought
We all need to help, we all need to be alert, we all need to love and care about our surroundings
I used to find it difficult to admit I had attempted to my life 3 separate times, now I look for places to talk about what was happening and why I felt so out of control bereft of hope and future. Gus Worland is correct, we need to take the tiny steps I will add we also need to hold the ladders that others are trying to climb out of the blackness so that they know that we are the light they are climbing to and the strength they can rely on. We also need to offer back to our mentors the same love that they offer us. I love you, I miss you, see you soon xoxo

i love this as a daily practice - a quick message or call to someone has huge impact; thank you for this reminder 🙏
It's a gentle reminder of the power of gratitude and connection in our lives. Those special people who light up our world deserve to know just how much they mean to us. Checking in on their mental health is not just an act of kindness but a testament to the strength of our bonds.
,,...Let us love people now, they leave us so fast, And the ones who don't leave won't always return, And you never know while speaking of love If the first one is last or the last one first...". -Jan Twardowski- Let us hurry to love people, they depart so quickly.
A very important message, you need to know your not alone and there are people that will be devastated if your not there to talk to.

2moAs a school counselor, I work with teens who believe there is no way out for them. They do not come to me directly with the notion of self-harm, but it comes out in our 1:1. I assess them, call their parents, inform them of the issue, and advise the parents to have the student professionally evaluated. We tell our school faculty, if you see any strange behavior from a student you know well (or even if you don't know them well), to let us know so we can speak with them. We do our best to give encouraging words to students. I will tell them I miss them if I haven't seen them in a while and that I'm glad they are in my life. A couple of months ago I saw one of my students perform in a musical. And she was magical. We almost lost her back in the fall. We have a safety plan in place for her, but every time I see her, I tell her how happy I am to see her. #life #cherishyourlovedones #suicide #safety #love #care #compassion #empathy
