Call for proposals on applied quantum technologies – open for Dutch and Singaporean companies!   Organisations from 16 countries, including the Netherlands and Singapore, looking to collaborate on international R&D projects in the field(s) of applied quantum technology, can now apply for funding through Call for proposals on applied quantum technologies. R&D project applications for this call for projects can be submitted between 1 February 2024 and 9 May 2024. The project consortium must include organisations based in a minimum of two of the countries listed in this call. The Netherlands application must be submitted by a Netherlands for profit company. Other Netherlands organisations, such as universities and research organisations, can join the Netherlands consortium as a project partner. Enterprise Singapore supports Singapore companies and their overseas partner to collaborate on R&D projects which result in new products or solutions with strong market potential. 🌟 Reflecting on an incredible experience at the 13th edition of iForum2023 held at the International Exhibition Center, Kyiv! 🌍 🚀 As an enthusiast of technological advancements, it was an absolute privilege to participate in the foremost technology-driven forum in Ukraine. iForum has consistently been at the forefront of innovation, and this year was no exception. The insights gained, and connections made throughout the event were truly invaluable. 🏙️ The theme of this year's event, "City of the Future," struck a chord with me. Exploring the possibilities of how technology can shape and transform our urban landscapes was both thought-provoking and exciting. The discussions and panels dedicated to Ukrainian MilTech development showcased the remarkable strides our nation is making in this field. The panel discussion on IP addresses and domains has been a brilliant speakership. 🤖 The concept of building a cyber-resilient system prepared for every unpredictability has been highlighted. We can emphasise that, as Ukrainians, we have mastered tech in tough times, but we need to create secure business environments without the need for such extreme lessons. 💡 Engaging with visionary speakers and experts, I came away with a deeper understanding of the role technology plays in building smarter, more sustainable cities. 🤝 The networking opportunities were a highlight, connecting with like-minded individuals who share a passion for driving positive change through technology. Collaborations forged during events like iForum have the power to amplify our impact and drive innovation even further. 🙌 Kudos to the organisers for orchestrating an event of such magnitude, and a heartfelt thank you to everyone who contributed to the enriching discussions and knowledge sharing. It is sometimes difficult to set aside the time to think freely and engage with new ideas in the midst of the hustle and bustle of daily work. So I was thankful to spend the weekend in Slovakia's majestic mountains, where I attended the Tatra Summit – a key opinion-shaping forum organized by Slovakia’s GLOBSEC – for the first time. This was a chance to engage in an intimate and informal setting with policy makers, financiers, and enterprises from across the Eastern and Central European regions. In a session on intellectual property (IP) and the digital economy, I first spoke and then took part in an exciting conversation about how the pursuit of an innovation and digital economy in this part of the world will shift asset creation from tangible to intangible assets. Participants shared the challenges of R&D and IP commercialization, the relative lack of capital funding, and the mindset towards risk – but we were all excited about the strong foundations in this part of the world that will just require some patience for a vibrant innovation ecosystem to fully establish. At a working dinner hosted by Mr. Peter Kažimír, Governor of the National Bank of Slovakia, and with central bank leaders from Croatia, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Slovenia, and Ukraine, we discussed how IP is shifting from a legal right to a business and financial asset, and about the opportunities and challenges this posed to the region’s financial services ecosystem and sector. Central bankers are not company that I normally keep, and WIPO is company that they normally don’t keep, but we had a great conversation and agreed that we need to do more to bring the world of finance and innovation together. In the end, the Tatra Summit was a great mix of serious talk, social engagement, and cool weather, and reminded me that engagement cannot be behind a screen, but must be in person. Kudos to the GLOBSEC team for organizing this event for the 12th year, and I look forward to finding more opportunities to engage with the Tatra Summit community.
