An interesting article! I think that there is a lot of overlap with how BIPOC library workers are feeling about the current state of the library profession. #library #librarian #morale #burnout #mentalhealth #wellbeing #worklifebalance #workenvironment #advocacy #engagement https://lnkd.in/g_FdAStg

Great resources by Association for Women in Science on how to advocate for diversity, equity and inclusion in our institutions and why it's necessary in the first place (if you've been hiding under a rock and need convincing): https://lnkd.in/gCG2A6Uk
In a growing number of states across America, books are being banned, and educators are being prohibited from teaching concepts such as implicit bias, intersectionality, and structural racism and inequality. We believe that DEI education is necessary to ensure diverse, equitable, and inclusive environments for STEM professionals and students — environments which will enable a strong and innovative workforce and nation. Kudos, Sunny Kakwani, for your civics education leadership! Awesome what your constitution team ("Sunny's Sunshines") at McDaniel High School was able to achieve. Students from under-resourced schools, many overcoming major hurdles towards excellence, depend on dedicated coaches and mentors, like you. 🇺🇸 🌟 ⚖ Want to support this constitution team and others in Oregon? This year's ‘We the People’ competition was an incredible journey of growth. I'm incredibly proud to have led my McDaniel High School Unit deep into the heart of the Constitution; exploring Equal Protection, Individual Rights, the Branches of Government, and its ever-evolving power. A special shoutout to our phenomenal team for making history by advancing to the state level for the first time ever! 🎉 It was a privilege to witness their brilliance as they presented their prepared remarks and fielded impromptu questions with grace and confidence at the Oregon Federal Courthouse. These students showcased not only their knowledge, but also their passion for civic engagement and critical thinking! The future of our democracy rests on the shoulders of engaged citizens like these. I couldn't be more proud! Here's to our champions and to the limitless possibilities that lie ahead! 🇺🇸✨ . . . #WeThePeople #mentorship #AYCPDX #AsYourCounsel #advocacy #counseling #CommunityDevelopment #FutureLeaders #Empowerment 🌟📜🏛️

During #BlackHistoryMonth, let's reflect on the significance of representation. With 79% of youth in CHIL's residential program being Black, it's a reminder of the systemic challenges faced by Black communities. This data underscores the ongoing need for support and advocacy to empower Black youth and address racial disparities. #RepresentationMatters #EquityForAll #CovenantHouseIllinois *Based on FY24 Q2 data
