Learn how Diazyme’s Renal Markers can help you make differences in Diagnostic Healthcare this National Kidney Month! What Are Renal Markers? Renal markers in clinical chemistry refer to a set of laboratory tests that assess the function and health of the kidneys. These markers provide valuable information about the kidneys' ability to filter waste products from the blood, regulate electrolyte balance, and maintain fluid balance in the body. What is Cystatin C? The Diazyme Cystatin C Assay is an in-vitro diagnostic test for the quantitative determination of Cystatin C in serum or plasma by latex enhanced immunoturbidimetric method. The measurement of Cystatin C is used as an aid in the diagnosis and treatment of renal disease. Learn More: https://lnkd.in/gtBuWUKj What is Enzymatic Creatinine? Diazyme Enzymatic Creatinine Liquid Reagents Assay, in conjunction with Diazyme Enzymatic Creatinine Calibrator, is intended for the quantitative determination of creatinine in serum and urine. Enzymatic Creatinine measurements are used in the diagnosis and treatment of renal diseases, in monitoring renal dialysis, and as a calculation basis for measuring other urine analytes. For in vitro diagnostic use only. 🌟 Exciting News Alert! 📚 Our Commitment to PPI Stewardship 🌐 🔍 Proton Pump Inhibitors (PPIs) have been a cornerstone in treating gastric acid-related issues for over three decades. While they offer significant relief, the inappropriate and prolonged use of PPIs has raised concerns due to associated adverse effects. The need for stewardship in the use of PPIs is imperative. 🌟 I am thrilled to share an insightful article detailing the newly formulated guidelines by the Indian Society of Gastroenterology on the judicious use of PPIs. These guidelines, developed via a modified Delphi process, aim to ensure that PPIs are used for appropriate indications and durations. 📖 The article meticulously outlines the statements, literature reviews, levels of evidence using #GRADE methodology, and #recommendations laid out in the guidelines using ETD frame work . It's a comprehensive resource for clinicians seeking to optimize their use of PPIs and contribute to PPI stewardship. 💡 Embracing these guidelines will empower healthcare professionals to make informed decisions, enhancing patient care while minimizing the potential risks associated with PPIs. It's an essential step towards ensuring the responsible use of these commonly prescribed medications. 👉 Read the full article to gain a deeper understanding of these guidelines and join us in promoting PPI stewardship. Let's optimize patient care while ensuring the safe and effective use of PPIs! 🚀 #PPIStewardship #Gastroenterology #HealthcareGuidelines #PatientCare #MedicalResearch #IndianSocietyofGastroenterology #GRADE #evidencebasedpractice #ETD

Post-hoc analysis of 1511 patients at very high #ASCVD risk in #RACING trials shows that: 👉 moderate-intensity #statin plus #ezetimibe was not inferior to high-intensity statin (composite ASCVD endpoint: 11.2% vs 11.7%; HR, 0.96; 95% CI, 0.71-1.30 ) 👉 Discontinuation or dose reduction of the lipid-lowering drug due to intolerance occurred less frequently in the combination group https://buff.ly/47oSHsJ

Here are some of our real-world tirzepatide data. In this poster presented at ECE 2024 we compare outcomes in over 1000 patients with previous GLP1RA exposure switched to tirzepatide, to those who were GLP1RA naive. The group switching from injectable semaglutide had the lowest HbA1c reduction and weight loss 6 months after starting tirzepatide. See more details here: https://lnkd.in/egZDkJwi

Implantable port site complications post bevacizumab infusion... "The results of this study show an inverse relationship between the risk of wound dehiscence and port site complication and the timing of bevacizumab infusion to port placement, with an increase in absolute risk of wound dehiscence when bevacizumab is given within 2 days of port placement" Yun et al (2024).

Iron Deficiency Anemia is widely prevalent(~ 10-20% globally). Oral Iron is the mainstay of treatment. Many primary care providers now prescribe every other day oral iron to patients with iron deficiency anemia. The American Academy of Family Physicians supports this practice. However, evidence to support or negate this practice trend is small and frankly lacking from real-world experience. We have studied >70,000 Veterans with iron deficiency anemia who received different oral iron supplementation schedules. We found that improvement of hemoglobin and iron indices were not different in patients who were prescribed daily or alternate-day oral iron supplementation, although happened at a slower pace than those who were prescribed multiple doses of oral iron per day (> = 2 times per day, a typical clinical practice). We showed that not all oral iron supplementation strategies are equal and this difference in dose-response is important for general internists to be aware of. A new meta-analysis of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in obese and underweight patients suggests preferential use of apixaban/rivaroxaban in the morbidly obese, and possibly low-dose edoxaban in underweight. Some highlights from the study: ☑ Anticoagulant therapy represents a challenge in patients at extremes of body weight. ☑ The evidence on the use of direct oral anticoagulants (DOACs) in this category is not yet conclusive. ☑ Some DOACs more than others may be considered in cases of atrial fibrillation or venous thromboembolism (VTE). ☑ Evidence on the use of DOACs at extremes of body weight in VTE recurrence prevention is summarized for the first time.
