The cleanup and tear-down operations of the NFL Draft has delivered unexpected benefits to local nonprofits. Materials such as carpeting, wood, and the very stairs that NFL hopefuls ascended as their names were called are finding a second life. DETROIT DOG RESCUE is at the forefront of this initiative, cleverly repurposing these elements to build a new spay and neuter clinic on Detroit's east side. The new clinic will provide essential services such as free spaying and neutering to help manage and support the local dog population. Beyond the direct benefits to DDR, this effort is setting a precedent for sustainability and community support. The materials salvaged from the NFL Draft are also being distributed to other nonprofits in the area, helping them enhance their facilities and expand their services. The repurposing of NFL Draft materials shows how the legacy of such events can continue to support and enrich the local community long after the crowds have gone home. According to Feeding America, more than 44 million people in the U.S. — including 13 million children — are food insecure. The Feeding America network consists of food banks, pantries, meal programs, state associations, and the Feeding America national organization and works together alongside communities to end hunger in America. RSI and DOE Legacy Management contract teaming partners Amentum and TFE are contributing $300,000 to Feeding America to support nine communities adjacent to LM operations. The funds will support nearby food banks in the Feeding America Network. The communities receiving support from the donation include Monongalia and Preston counties, West Virginia; Pinellas County, Florida; Navajo and Coconino counties, Arizona; Grants, New Mexico; San Miguel County, New Mexico; Grand Junction, Colorado; Westminster, Colorado; Hamilton County, Ohio; and St. Charles County, Missouri. #FeedingAmerica
