📣 Attention NABA Seattle Members!! 📣 Join UW for the 21st Annual Celebration of Black Alumni Achievement! The Celebration of Black Alumni Achievement (formerly Celebration of African American Alumni Achievement), was created by the late Dr. Thaddeus Spratlen, UW Foster Professor Emeritus of Marketing, to create a sense of community among Black alumni and students at the UW Foster School of Business. This celebration honors leaders within the Black community and raises funds to support the Association of Black Business Students (ABBS) Scholarship and African American Heritage Endowed MBA Scholarship. This is the only event at the Foster School specifically dedicated to raising funds for this critical need. While this event is geared towards UW Foster's Black alumni, students, faculty, staff and corporate partners, all who are committed to supporting and increasing racially diverse business and academic populations are welcomed. Business attire and comfortable shoes is highly recommended as this will be a networking atmosphere. However, limited seating will be provided throughout the room. Heavy hors d'oeuvres and a hosted bar will also be provided. (Government issued ID is required for 21+ bar service) Please DM Tai Moultrie, CPA, MBA before close on business Wednesday, February 7th should you want to attend as registration is limited. February is many things: my birthday month, and also typically the coldest and most brutal month of the year's weather in the midwest; Heart Health Awareness Month (pay attention your heart, folks!); the shortest and somehow most confusing month of the year, boasting only 28 or 29 days to get us that much closer to spring; and it's Black History Month. I've learned from many people with different perspectives of what Black History Month means to them, and was excited to get to work with our Interim Associate Dean of Health Parity, Joyce Goins-Fernandez, PhD, on this video in which she discusses what it means to her. Check this out, and tell me: did you learn something new? What does Black History Month mean to you? How has Black history shaped your career, or your chosen career field? How has what you've learned shaped the decisions you make, or will make moving forward?
In this video, Interim Associate Dean of Health Parity for the University of Iowa Roy J. and Lucille A. Carver College of Medicine, Joyce Goins-Fernandez, PhD, discusses what Black History Month means to her.

BIG NEWS! Our new Medal of Honor Character Development Program resource is here! PATH TO HONOR encourages self-exploration of the six values embodied in the Medal of Honor: courage, commitment, integrity, sacrifice, citizenship, and patriotism. Students select a module focusing on one of the core values and trace the steps of Medal of Honor Recipients. As they hear stories in the Recipients’ own words, students decide what they would do in that moment, then hear the rest of the story and reflect on the values demonstrated, making real-life connections to character values.
