Today, women are proving that they can thrive in any field and breaking barriers in technology and cloud 🚀 ☁ We still have a long way to go but I am encouraged by changes and seeing more women excelling in Tech. 🌟 In the United States science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) labor force represents only 23% of the total U.S. labor force. 🌟 In the European Union, women make up 19.1% of the ICT (information and communication technology) sector. 𝙏𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙡𝙡 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙩𝙧𝙪𝙩𝙝 I never envisaged that the Women Techstar Fellowship, organized by Tech4Dev , would be so enriching and densely packed. The program commenced with a two-week orientation. As Week 1 comes to a close, I'd like to highlight some key takeaways: 𝗧𝗲𝗻 𝗡𝗼𝘁𝗲𝘄𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘆 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀 1. It's important to extend yourself grace because you deserve all the good that comes your way. 2. Every challenge presents an opportunity for self-reinvention. 3. Embrace the concept of failing fast and failing often, in other words, welcome failure as a means of learning. 4. Done is better than perfect. 5. Always find a problem you can solve. 6. Sharing isn't about bragging or boasting; it's a wellspring of inspiration and personal growth. 7. Don't hesitate to seek help when needed. 8. Giving up is not a viable option. 9. Marriage and parenthood shouldn't hinder personal growth; you can grow together. 10. Networking is paramount—network, network, network! Furthermore, we had the privilege of meeting our remarkable alumni, who shared their stories of triumph despite facing challenges. One common thread among them was their ability to collaborate effectively as a team. I would put this to practice, and learn more about team work. Some days are just exceptional and make you pause and think.  It was a surreal moment on Friday when Satya Nadella announced the expansion of Code; Without Barriers in India and gave the program unimagined wings, ( a quick context - CWB is a project conceived within Microsoft with a vision to bring gender parity in Data & AI space by creating a platform to connect talented skilled female developers to education, opportunities and employment. ) Projects like CWB rekindle the faith in me about the power of vision, passion and community to drive positive outcome. It shows that when people, technology and businesses come together with the right purpose it can indeed become catalysts for greater #societalimpact.   Hats off Annie Mathew for your leadership, vision, relentless passion and perseverance to setting this #flywheel in motion and hats off to the Microsoft mates behind this and the entire #community of volunteers within and outside Microsoft for the selfless work, enthusiasm and collaborating beyond organizational and regional boundaries in order to change the landscape of tech industry. #Developers are indeed the lifeblood of technology innovations and it is both in humanity's and tech industry's interest to ensure that this group of specialists is as diverse as possible to ensure a fair representation of the society that it's solutions intend to serve. So one of the things I learnt during the women techsters fellowship orientation was LinkedIn optimization. Am usually a very reserved person pertaining to posting on social media but I learnt that putting myself out there is a very sure and fast way of being seen . And then I decided documenting my learning process starting from day 1 of my classes and here I am.
