As the year is coming to an end is getting about that time to reflect on the year that has gone past and the many highlights that it has left us and the one that undoubtedly shines the brightest is having had the opportunity of playing a key part in the efforts to recover the roading network around the Coromandel Peninsula, specially those spent on SH25 and SH25A.
It comes to mind with all the media coverage these day around the re-opening of SH25A this week with the finalisation of construction activities on the Taparahi Bridge, the monumental effort that was required by so many people in the region to ensure that those communities affected by the disruption caused by Cyclone Gabrielle could return back to normal as soon as possible and ensure that the effects of this disruptions did not span another summer.
Due to our proximity to the area, our knowledge of the network and reputation for being one of the leaders in professional roading services WSP was very early in the piece to help support the recovery efforts around the SH25 and SH25A.
During the time the Taparahi bridge was being built a recovery group was formed comprised of WSP, Waka Kotahi, Higgins and Beca to plan, design and upgrade SW assets as well re devise solutions for smaller slips in the network.
In a nutshell, this project was a testament of the power that people have when they come together and collaborate to achieve an outcome for the betterment of the communities and the WSP Paeroa team is so proud of having had the chance to be part of it. #doingwhatmattersforfuturegenerations. #futureready, #WSP, #WSPBoP.
