It's a new year, and like clockwork, it is once again Mentoring Month... a time to (re)name and (re)claim our intentions for how we will invest in others, in our businesses, and in ourselves in the weeks and months ahead! I for one am continuing my commitment to identify, invest in, and amplify the voices of those who might not get the same stage or acclaim as others. For 2024 my coaching, mentoring, sponsorship, and allyship investments will be directed toward historically overlooked and/or marginalized talent—namely women, people of color, members of the LGBTQ+ community, and those with physical, mental, intellectual, and/or sensory impairments. These are talented individuals who are often—largely due to biases, unconscious or otherwise—left out of the developmental relationships, like mentoring, that are proven again and again to make or break careers. Two amazingly talented individuals who have committed their lives to the advancement of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and to the progress of others, are Megan Kincaid Kramer and Julio G. Alvarez... two fine folks that I have had the pleasure of working alongside while on my own leadership journey. Their work, and the principles they stand for, deserves a megaphone...
