🚨 Title Inflation Alert! 🚨 Have you noticed the surge of "Associate Vice Presidents" lately? 🌟 It's as if we've entered a new era where everyone has a fancy title, but the actual responsibilities haven't changed much. 🤔 Let's be honest—many of these titles are just glorified labels for roles that haven't evolved. It’s like promoting a secretary to "Manager" and calling it a day. Titles may change, but the job often remains the same. These Associate VP "faux titles" take away from the true talented, hard working corporate VP's in charge. True leadership and value aren’t about the title on your business card. Colonel of Wisdom for the Day: Are you irreplaceable on your team? Are you sure? The Colonel said, “Don’t consider yourself irreplaceable. No one is irreplaceable, kiddo. In fact, if you are doing your job, you are constantly trying to create your replacement.”  I witnessed this concept in action beautifully during my tenure as a Sales Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics. When Mary Kay Ash designed her cosmetics company, it very quickly became a model upon which most reputable modern-day direct sales companies were modeled. Mary Kay knew that if someone achieved the position of Sales Director by recruiting consultants into the company but did not encourage those recruits to become directors themselves, eventually, that director would have a unit too large to lead. More importantly, when she retired, her unit would be without a leader. With that in mind, she established a career path that encouraged her leadership to spin off additional directors from their units, or they could not move themselves any further up the ladder. By consistently working to replace themselves, directors could build and grow multiple capillary leaders to share the load. By helping others grow first, they moved ahead and received greater rewards, while their recruits also moved ahead and received greater rewards, and the company grew exponentially. #SignificantLeadership #365Leadership #LeadershipDevelopment #HRCommunity #HR

How often do you celebrate the small (or perceived small) wins? They don’t get the same recognition and importance, yet they are key to reaching big goals. I had a conversation with a manager and she said that recognition or celebration in the company she works for were almost non-existent. People were recognised for their achievements by receiving the annual bonus. The tendency is to think that people’s accomplishments are part of their job. How do you or your team get excited if everything you or they do seems like business as usual? As the end of the week is approaching, I invite you to take time to reflect on the past 5 days. Get your team and yourself excited about the wins you had this week and what went well. Big achievements don’t happen overnight, and you don’t get the rewards without the small steps. We've just wrapped the 2024 US Leadership Conference in Tampa, Florida. And after three long days, we have some exciting news to share about our plans for the future! Our market share has grown over the last five years, and we have outpaced our competitors, making us more #resilient than ever before.    As we set our sights on the #future, we are making some significant changes to our #leadership and organizational structure. We are investing in the Blueprint program and developing a strategic client function that will help us take advantage of the anticipated growth in the #staffing industry in 2024.    Our focus is on #sales productivity, operational #efficiency, and providing the best customer experience possible. We are identifying and segmenting clients, aligning our brand, and creating visibility and excitement around sales excellence. To achieve all of this, we will be setting clear OKRs and performance management standards while implementing organizational design and governance and establishing flexible working policies.   We would also like to take a moment to express our gratitude to the senior leaders of the business who have been instrumental in our success so far. Start Your Monday Morning Off Right With My Sunday Leadership Advice Topic ☺️: “Why isn’t the team selling this month?”We’ve all heard this question throughout our retail leadership careers, but whenever I hear someone ask this, I tend to think the individual may have a case of ‘Amateur Manager’ syndrome. A more seasoned retail leader would ask the same question in a different way. After all, is it fair to assume that the same team that may have been selling last month, suddenly decided they were going to stop selling this month? Doesn’t it feel like an indictment to suggest that someone isn’t selling, simply because the numbers are off for a month? It’s also a presumptuous question to ask without first asking other questions that would at least indicate or confirm that the team is in fact not selling. So instead of asking “Why isn’t the team selling this month?” a better way to ask this question is “Why aren’t our customers buying this month?”. This approach asks the same question and it allows for an even better answer. Perhaps it’s the product mix or a lack of promotion for the month. Maybe there are challenges with staffing or the top seller is on vacation. Could it be something in the macro-environment that is impacting the overall business for the month? Whatever the reason, it’s better to ask a question that allows for an honest response with a broad range of answers, as opposed to asking a narrow question that already suggests you think you know the answer.
