Many traditional rivals of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts, like the Tata Group-owned Indian Hotels and ITC Hotels, or younger ones such as Lemon Tree, have gone past it in the race for scale (see infographic), but when it comes to luxury, patrons still swear by the Oberoi brand. Now, there is a possibility of Reliance increasing its already sizeable stake in EIH, the flagship company of Oberoi Hotels and Resorts.
