This collaboration with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and EEP Africa demonstrates the powerful impact of AI-driven geyser devices on energy management. The study showcases how smart geyser management can not only mitigate comeback load following load shedding but also significantly lower maximum demand—more so than situations without load shedding. By intelligently managing energy consumption one can ease the impact of the cost of living crisis by enhancing geyser efficiency by up to 24%. However, responsibility for delivering these elements of the energy transition is highly fragmented and leadership is sadly lacking with too many parties having bit roles. This is the local energy burden. “Energy-smart places” holds the key. “Energy-smart places” holds the key as shown by Innovate UK’s £107m Prospering from the Energy Revolution (PfER) programme. Europe is also starting to look at District Self-Balancing, and several energy communities are appearing. As a result, organisations are realising that local systems have an important role to play in the current crisis and are looking for ways in which to do this. It is not a technical challenge: it is a business challenge. LEMA will be the alliance through which businesses will take the initiative to create a market that will move consumers to mass adoption and generate major business opportunities. Locational Marginal Pricing in Great Britain | Aurora Energy Research (auroraer.com) Key conclusions are: 1) In a scenario where Net Zero by 2035 isn’t achieved, a switch to LMP would likely result in increased costs to the consumer with little benefit 2) Under Net Zero, a switch to LMP by 2045 could result in decreased total system costs—sooner is only better if there is minimal impact on WACC Hands up any investors who think LMP will not increase WACC?
