My Favourite Fake News in Native Advertising (Taboola & Outbrain) 👉 Publishers’ whitelist is a “must-have”. It is a common mistake for Brands when launching their first campaigns: “I want to be displayed on publisher A, B, C… only.” According to us, those assumptions are the recipe for failure: this is not how Outbrain & Taboola algorithms work. They need a lot of data to perform, and they can tell us where the audiences that have the highest probability of converting into a lead or a sale are. Publishers Whitelist is the best way to limit the volume of data collected and make your campaign less viable (when looking for profitability at scale). It could be an option in some situations, but not a “must-have”. Last but not least, bear in mind that Outbrain for Performance & Taboola are onboarding new publishers and winning new deals every month: whitelisting shall make you miss the opportunity for new lucrative placements.
