Today is #WorldEnvironmentDay. Making this world a better place and protecting and preserving it for future generations is what Sysmex strives for, guided by the principles of its corporate philosophy, the ‘Sysmex Way’. For more than 10 years, Sysmex Europe has attached great importance to this topic and has been certified. For this reason, our products and manufacturing processes become increasingly efficient and sustainable to reduce potential risks to the environment. Our reagent production, for example, benefits from a rooftop photovoltaic system for electricity generation and a solar ice system for heating and cooling. In addition, Sysmex encourages its employees to get involved in sustainability, as it is often the little things that create a greener future. We do our bit through engagement, awareness campaigns, communication, regular mandatory training and much more. In May, we planted 1,500 trees and supported reforestation, collected rubbish around our sites in Hamburg and Norderstedt and organised collection and donation campaigns for the environment. And this will not be the end of our activities. You can find more information about sustainability at Sysmex on our website 👉 https://lnkd.in/dfChSeJq #Sysmex

"Switch off the lights - get empowered for Earth" On Saturday the 23rd March 2024, 20:30-21:30 it is once again time for #EarthHour. The Green Labs community within the AstraZeneca BioVentureHub will show our commitment for a sustainable future. In addition to our Green Lab energy-saving activities that we currently undertake within our labs, such as cleaning out the freezers/fridges, unplugging electrical devices when not in use, and setting the right temperatures, we will also focus on energy savings at home, including: - Turning off lights and electricity when not in use - Only using dishwashers and laundry machines when you have a full load - Air-drying/hang-drying your laundry instead of using the drying machine And... why not eat vegetarian for your 23rd dinner? It may sound like the simplest thing on earth... but it has no effect if we don't do it. Our AstraZeneca R&D site in Gothenburg will, of course, follow that good example by turning off the lights in time. So why don't you follow the good example and also influence your circle of colleagues, friends and family to do the same! We can all contribute in some way. We will – will you? Earth Day’s 2024 theme, ‘Planet vs. Plastics’, is a call to urgently reduce the use of plastics with the ultimate goal of building a plastic-free future for generations to come. Over the years, we have implemented circular solutions allowing to save hundreds of tons of plastics every year across Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany's Healthcare value chain. And we are continuously taking action to save more! Such solutions are made possible through a combination of: ▪️ Science & technology, to find alternative materials, equipment, and processes to reduce the use of plastics while always ensuring the integrity of our medicines. ▪️ Partnership, working hand in hand with a broad range of stakeholders including suppliers, health authorities, healthcare practitioners, patients, and also peer companies. ▪️ Last but certainly not least, employees, with their ideas and commitment to be part of the solution! As an example among many, here are three key solutions we are implementing to minimize the use of plastics associated with our Fertility injection pens. More examples are available in our global parent company's Sustainability Report 2023: http://ms.spr.ly/6040YGDP4 #EarthDay
