As we heard loud & clear at #ViVE2024 last week, the EHR has become a huge burden on front line staff. Dr. Ilana Yurkiewicz, Oncologist and Professor at Stanford University, writes “doctors are still operating in an era of oral history or as archeologists in being forced to review CD-ROMs, faxed records, and the patient’s interpretation of important medical details as though she were piecing together pot shards at a dig site.” AI is ready now to simplify, organize, and synthesize disparate EHR data into insights that support clinical decision making, allowing providers to spend more time at the bedside and less time staring at a computer screen, hunting for basic information (see accompanying child’s drawing of a visit). Using predictive models and Generative AI, we can now: *Read notes in real-time and flag new conditions *Update risk profiles in real-time with full explainability and traceability *Integrate fragmented data into an always current one-page holistic patient view At our core, Health Data Analytics Institute (HDAI) is committed to responsible AI and to using all available AI capabilities to help solve the clinician burnout crisis. #generativeAI #healthcareAI #HealthcareonLinkedIn https://lnkd.in/eAMdwKXc

🌟 Read this article! https://lnkd.in/dykfwDZr 🌟 Artificial intelligence (AI) is revolutionizing healthcare by improving patient outcomes, lowering costs, and benefitting population health. In preventive care, AI accelerates cancer screening processes and automates labor-intensive tasks like analyzing kidney images, as seen at the Mayo Clinic. AI's risk assessment capabilities, such as predicting heart conditions and managing chronic diseases, enhance public health management by promoting disease prevention and connecting patients with appropriate care. Despite its potential, AI must be carefully regulated to avoid bias and misinformation, ensuring it augments rather than replaces human healthcare professionals. 🌟 AI in healthcare holds immense promise, offering transformative improvements in diagnosis, treatment, and disease prevention. By automating routine tasks and analyzing vast amounts of data quickly, AI can significantly enhance efficiency and patient outcomes. However, it's crucial to address potential biases and ensure proper regulation to prevent misinformation and discrimination. Ultimately, AI should serve as a powerful tool that complements and augments the expertise of healthcare professionals, rather than replacing them. PLEASE NOTE: When integrating AI into any industry, it's essential to consider both the strategic approach and the impact on the organization. Various forms of Artificial Intelligence, such as predictive analytics and rule-based engines, can effectively address climate change challenges. Sometimes, even a well-designed dashboard can provide significant insights. Realistically speaking, it is difficult to manage and analyze the vast amount of medical data and records available to understand patients’ long-term health needs. AI and ML are now able to automatically perform this vast data processing and analysis with the ultimate goal of aiding physicians in identifying safe, personalized treatment pathways for a patient. This frees up counselors and clinicians from menial tasks and helps focus their attention on patient care. At Lucid Lane, we use AI-fueled symptom trackers that can flag less-obvious patterns that may be exacerbating pain.
