OK #LinkedIN so it's a little after 17:00 UK Time which means it's time to call a wrap on #JonTheHashtagGuy for another Day / Work Week, and although it's been another Week (taking me to Day 12 in total) of being #OnTheBench, or if you prefer; #ImmediatelyAvailable, there has been lots of positives to take from this Week. 74 Calls 42 Contract Applications 1 Rejection (no Feedback from Interview, just a "no") 1 Interview Request (thanks to John Stephenson at BE Digital) Outside of the Contract Search we have broken ground on the new offering from Phoenix Evolution Consulting #CoffeeWithTheHashtagGuy and there have been a few Calls & DMs on this in advance of our inaugural Call next Friday at 11. Being on this side has been eye opening and the marketing brain doesn’t shut off. Listen up: Here’s what I’ve noticed 👀 1️⃣The auto-reply email candidates recive from the application is critical. I’ve been really impressed with some of the auto replies I’ve gotten. I’m tucking them away for future reference. 📂 Example: Attentive is on it! Auto reply from Attentive features: 🎯A product video about what they do 🌈A link to thier ERGs (employee rescource groups) 🏆A shout out to last years accomplishments 2️⃣Clear instruction and guidance on the interview process is GOLD 💰💰💰 Example: Merit America is rocking this 🎯Auto reply, has next steps outlined plus tips are available on their website for job seekers 🌈Katie Rakusin, Director of Talent Aqusition posts priceless content on what to expect in the interview process including questions to prepare. Talk about living inclusive values! 🏆Job seekers, take notes from her posts. 3️⃣How do you do all that in a day? Props to the TA people I’ve been following on LinkedIn on this journey. Here are a few simple actions others did for me that I found truly made a difference for me during my job search. The kindness and encouragement of the small actions kept me from emotionally spiraling more than once. 💫 Stay in touch with connections, even if the original reason you connected is no longer needed. + Share an article or a post you have seen on LinkedIn that may be of interest to them personally. + Ask how you can support them (especially if they supported you in any way). + If you haven't spoken, ask if they would be open to a coffee chat. 💫 Like and comment on posts. This is like pixie dust! Your like/comment will help boost the reach of the post, and encourage more engagement from others. 💫 Write a recommendation or endorse skills. These can be like bits of gold for those on the job search. + If someone has helped you review your resume, write a recommendation AND endorse relevant skills. + If someone helped you with interview prep, write a recommendation AND endorse relevant skills. + If someone helped you in any way, write a recommendation AND endorse relevant skills. 💫 Write posts that showcase others. + Who have you had a coffee chat with this week? + Who has impressed you with their knowledge, their expertise, their attitude? + Who helped you this week? + Who had a post that resonated with you this week? We asked over 220 GenZers for our 2024 career report: would they prefer a video made by employees or a professionally commissioned marketing video? The results are in, and nearly 90% of participants said they would prefer a video made by employees! Not only does using an employee-made video increase trust between job seekers and your company, but it also showcases your company culture. In fact, over 90% of our survey participants said that company culture affects their decision to apply for a job. So it’s the 3rd week of 2024 now and I can’t put off my New year’s resolution any longer… 😅 I promised myself that this year I would start posting more personal content on Linkedin. If I’m honest, I’ve been a lot more Linked-Out than LinkedIn previously, just offering up the occasional congratulatory or supportive comment to people I know in the “real world” and sharing information about jobs. But, in 2024, I’m embracing change and making a commitment to use LinkedIn to really connect and engage with people in a more meaningful and useful/helpful way, even if it’s a bit nerve-wracking, and I’m potentially just talking to myself! The truth is, I see more and more people building great communities on LinkedIn, making connections with other business-owners, and putting themselves out there to give clients, candidates, and other people in their industry a chance to get to know the person behind the business, so I want to be brave and join the club! I’ve been a recruitment business owner for just over 4 years now, but I’ve been working in recruitment since the days you wrote job details on window cards and hoped someone with the right skills just happened to walk by. Since the time when the only way to advertise jobs was to place them in the local newspaper on “job day” every week, and wait for the phone to ring. Since the time you waited every morning with bated breath for the post to arrive, optimistic of finding some gems of cv’s and applications. That’s a seriously long time! I have so many connections on here, so my intention is to start sharing my experiences with you all in the hope that it helps us all feel more connected. Who do you know who is hiring? 𝘔𝘢𝘳𝘬𝘦𝘵 𝘐𝘯𝘴𝘪𝘨𝘩𝘵 📈 How are you finding the market? How many recruiters are you speaking to? How many roles are you working on? How have you found those? 𝘐𝘯𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘗𝘳𝘰𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘦𝘴 📝 How long are you in them for? How have you found the experience? 𝘊𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘓𝘪𝘯𝘬𝘦𝘥𝘐𝘯 🔗 For future networking and simply putting names and faces together. 𝘈𝘴𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘏𝘦𝘭𝘱 🙋♂️ This could be anything! Outcome-based conversations ensure that every interaction is meaningful and productive. Team, wanted to share something that I think might help job seekers - I'll include "why" I'm sharing below! When you apply to a job, and you see that a recruiter from your target company has looked at your LinkedIn profile: 𝟵/𝟭𝟬 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗹𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗯𝗲𝗰𝗮𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝗶𝘁'𝘀 𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 via your LinkedIn page.  If you apply to my open role, and I'm not familiar with your current / former company, things I might want to know more about to assess fit: 1. Staff size 2. Revenue 3. Industry 4. (𝘙𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 - 𝘢𝘯𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨!!) It's worth noting because some recruiters who don't recognize the company might avoid that extra step - and you land in the "rejection" folder. So something you can do to make sure we're getting the relevant info is: 1. Write a blurb covering these things in your resume! I.e. "X Company is a manufacturer that produces raw materials in the Y sector. Annual revenue ~20MM" (tailor this to the type of role - if HR, include headcount. Etc) 2. Just add a link to the company's LinkedIn page! It's 2023 - we're not looking at paper resumes and manually typing in web addresses. Include the hyperlink right in your resume. Reduces friction, and the company's LinkedIn page will have 90% of the info we're looking for! The reason I'm sharing: At #RecFestUSA this year, there was a panel for "candidate experience". It was a panel of three job seekers talking about their impressions from the job search process. Overall it was very useful - the one callout is that there was no space to address some of these impressions!! And at least one panelist thought that recruiters were looking at the profile for biased reasons (race, age, etc).  𝗜𝘁 𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹𝗹𝘆 𝗵𝘂𝗿𝘁 𝗺𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝘁. (𝘞𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘦 𝘐 𝘰𝘧𝘧𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘴𝘵𝘴 𝘮𝘺 𝘤𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘢𝘭𝘬 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘵𝘦𝘳 𝘴𝘪𝘥𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯, 𝘐 100% 𝘤𝘢𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘧𝘧 𝘢𝘴 𝘢 𝘭𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘤. 𝘔𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘴 𝘰𝘧𝘵𝘦𝘯 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘥 𝘢𝘴 𝘭𝘶𝘯𝘢𝘤𝘺. 𝘐'𝘮 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘰𝘯 𝘪𝘵!)
