Yesterday was Todd Lisle's retirement reception at FORVIS in Dallas. This guy has been serving in a Managing Partner role for many years, and it's time to move on and play more golf. ⛳️ Chris Clark spoke at the reception, and he said something about Todd's leadership that really resonated with me (and made me so proud too). Blake Griffin retired on Tuesday. He's an employee-employer cautionary tale. The structure changed at his workplace (the Clippers): new owner, new management, new environment. His key colleagues changed there, too, including his prime collaborator (Chris Paul departed). Still, as a top performer at the time, new management gave Griffin a new contract. They lauded him, embraced his possible longevity with the company by concocting a faux jersey retirement ceremony, and paid him well. They discarded him a year later. The Clippers traded Griffin to Detroit, a modern-day NBA outpost, for the equivalent of financial wiggle room. The Clippers, in effect, laid him off from their organization after huffing and puffing about how important he was to it. Griffin's place in NBA history won't only be about his astonishing power dunking ability. Many will look at him, and how he was treated, as the fulcrum for star movement in the league. Players, like many in the current workforce, began to learn from clear history lessons prior generations ignored. They now understand employers will shed talent when results and budget dictate they do so. No exceptions. Griffin's treatment changed the minds of others in his industry. They just needed a glaring, relatable example to consider. They realized controlling their course was better than leaving it to chance or temperamental upper management, a lesson spreading well beyond NBA team employees. 📸: Streeter Lecka/Getty Images

What we can learn about dedication, resilience and cooperation from the retirement announcement of Jason Kelce - one of the most esteemed offensive line Centers in the NFL - and his very emotional speech I’m more into American football than soccer, so I followed the news of Jason Kelce's retirement announcement on March 4th. It underscores his profound dedication, passion and gratitude towards the game and those who supported him. Jason himself said, that his brother and him always envisioned to win Super Bowls, when they played in their backyard. It shows that success stems from a combination of love for one's craft and relentless hard work. However, it's crucial to acknowledge that the path to greatness is fraught with challenges and setbacks even for the best. One of those was the defeat of the Super Bowl 2023. Embracing failure as part of the journey. He also demonstrated vulnerability and garners respect and fosters genuine connections in his speech. Emotions serve as powerful catalysts for authenticity and empathy. When one of his coaches decided to let him play as a Center, he himself never thought about that position to play. Unexpected opportunities often lead to unforeseen growth and fulfillment. They can propel individuals towards their true potential Appreciating the contributions of teammates, both in moments of victory and defeat. He describes himself as the “Underdog” and more than once he believed, he would never be there without the unwavering support of everyone around him. 2016 everyone want him to leave, because of his worst season. It was his offensive line coach, who constantly believed in him and didn’t give him up. Every single one of us can have a high influence on someone else’s success. Kelce's illustrious career includes 193 out of 193 games as a starter, winning the 2018 Super Bowl and named seven times for the Pro-Bowl and six All-Pro nominations.🚀 His retirement underscores the profound impact of dedication, resilience, and genuine human connection in the pursuit of excellence. #inspiration #teamwork #leadership #dedication #resilience
