John Williams, our VP of Technical Services, was featured on a panel of experts in E-Mobility Engineering's article on thermal runaway 🔋 🔥. Here's a sneak preview of his discussion on PyroThin thermal barriers: “Cell-to-cell barriers do not operate in isolation, so our materials are designed with a system-level approach. Our team takes into consideration how cells expand over time as they age and compress the barriers between them. By a pack’s end-of-life (EOL), the aerogel is compressed to a fraction of its original thickness. The material has a thermal conductivity lower than still air, so when it is under strain the thermal conductivity actually improves 📈” Check out the full article here à https://lnkd.in/gmr9iZWD

I am happy to share the following paper, which was presented at the ASME Turbo Expo 2023: Turbomachinery Technical Conference and Exposition in Boston. It includes results from my Master's thesis and shows that the so-called Flamelet-Genrerated-Manifold (FGM) approach can be efficiently used to simulate turbulent combustion at high steam loads. This is especially relevant for aircraft engines based on the Water-Enhanced Turbofan (WET) concept.

[Terminator Update] Last week, we've successfully completed the first hydrostatic and leakage test on Terminator's upper injector! If you're new here, small recap on what's Terminator: 👉 Scaled demonstrator of our hybrid propulsion technology. 👉 It's a 6 m long, 1 m wide engine that uses plastic as fuel. 👉 First fire test campain will occur in a few weeks and will last all year 2024 on #DGAEssaisdemissiles test bench. 👉 It is the first step of the #PADA1 project supported by a Rapid DGA, alongside THE CT ENGINEERING GROUP, Telespazio France and SpaceDreamS SAS. More details about this successfull test: The pressure test on the upper injection chamber enables us to test the design and implementation of an assembly that has to be watertight to several tens of bars. Our own measuring equipment was installed and used. In the initial test, target pressure was reached using water, ensuring the resistance of the system. After that, the crucial gaz test was conducted to identify any possible leak. Congrats team! 🎥 - Short timelaps of the final assembly (sadly, we can't show you much more than that).

Advanced simulation capabilities not only accelerate development times, they are essential in achieving more sustainable, more energy efficient and optimized material usage.
To achieve optimal efficiency, fluid power applications and their sealing components need good friction characteristics and long life to reduce maintenance. Engineering simulations can help original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) succeed in an environment where the demands for efficiency are increasing. Learn more about these valuable simulation methods in this article from Canadian Fluid Power Association and our own Alan Astbury. https://bit.ly/3tYJCYn
