🚀 Exciting news! The Energy Institute has released new guidance on adapting natural gas power stations for hydrogen blends. Why it matters: 🔍 Plans are in motion to integrate 2–5% hydrogen into the national natural gas transmission system. Furthermore, operating companies are exploring even higher blends of hydrogen, and original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) are developing turbines that can run on up to 100% hydrogen. What the EI guidance offers: 🔍 This guide empowers power station operators to understand the requirements for adapting the wider power station asset for hydrogen combustion, covering: • Regulatory context: a thorough overview of the current and forthcoming legal considerations. • Characteristics of hydrogen: an analysis of hydrogen’s properties. • Risk management: guidance on conducting risk assessments and establishing safety protocols. • Maintenance considerations: advice on maintaining operational efficiency with hydrogen blends. • Safety measures: strategies for ensuring process and occupational safety. • End-of-life planning: information on decommissioning considerations for plants using hydrogen. Where to access the guide: 📚 The EI’s guidance is available here: https://lnkd.in/eZRAuTPi #hydrogen #energytransition #CCGT #powersystems Stuart King | Martin Maeso | Mark Scanlon
