How do we tackle the enormous task of addressing misinformation in health care? Here’s what Dr Reed Tuckson, MD says it will take: 1️⃣ work together and care about each other 2️⃣ every health care interaction has to be based on trust 3️⃣ educate the health care workers to have these conversations with their mistrustful patients 4️⃣ increase science/medical literacy so that patients “participate in the use” of health information (great phrase)

Mindset is so important. Learn to challenge your own thinking to rise above the negative thoughts and cognitive biases that can hold you back! A personal story: in 2009, I was considering doing my MBA. I considered a JD MBA as well, but was concerned I would barely be able to squeak into an MBA program, so didn’t pursue it. I focused myself on improving the areas of the GMAT I assumed would be the toughest for me, and prepared to write the test, hoping to come out with an acceptable score. Lo and behold, I did far batter on the test than I anticipated. Preparation matters. I did so well, in fact, I would have my pick of programs and likely could have done my JD MBA if I had chosen to prepare for that test and aplly for that type of program. Alas, I’ll never know. I have no regrets about getting my MBA the way I did at Rotman, but will never know if I could have gotten a JD as well. I limited myself. This post is a great reminder to get out of your own head. Imaginary rules are the unwritten and unspoken assumptions, expectations, and norms that we follow in our personal and professional lives. They are often based on our beliefs, values, habits, or traditions, and they may not reflect the reality or the best practices. 🙅 Imaginary rules can end up being blockers, because they can limit our potential, creativity, and growth. They can prevent us from trying new things, taking risks, and learning from failures. They can also create conflicts, misunderstandings, and frustrations among ourselves and others. 😟 To overcome imaginary rules, we need to challenge and change them. We need to question the validity, relevance, and usefulness of our imaginary rules, and seek evidence and feedback to support or refute them. We need to reframe our imaginary rules into positive and realistic goals, and experiment with different approaches and methods. We need to embrace change, diversity, and innovation, and foster a culture of curiosity, collaboration, and improvement. 🚀 In conclusion, imaginary rules are the invisible and imaginary barriers that we create for ourselves and others. They can block our progress and happiness, if we let them. To break free from imaginary rules, we need to be aware, critical, and proactive. Imaginary rules are not the truth, but the choices. 🙌

It indeed takes a considerable amount of strength and self-awareness to liberate oneself from the fear of judgment and the perceived constant scrutiny of others. This article insightfully touches on a common human experience where we often overestimate how much others are paying attention to us, leading to a reluctance in taking risks or expressing our true selves. Achieving a balance between disconnecting from the weight of others' opinions while maintaining a healthy and supportive social circle is crucial. It's about finding that sweet spot where we can be true to ourselves without feeling isolated. Cultivating this kind of independence in thought and action not only contributes to personal growth but also enhances the quality of our social interactions.
