Around 5 PM, I was trying to book a bike to reach home from a location in the city. After waiting for few minutes, I received a call immediately. Usually whichever service it is, it takes some time for the driver to connect me or mostly i have to call them and ask the whereabouts and are they coming for the ride etc. Before even I could realise the bike has been booked, I received a call immediately that the driver is ready for the trip. The trip was booked for my son. He called and asked my son's name and the exact location. I told him appropriately. He took the inputs and went to the place. In general, the drivers go to the location and ask many questions and they take time to understand where my son was and whom to contact etc as I am booking from my house, whereas my son is onboarding from a different location. So, the coordination would be a little tough between the school security and myself as they would be doing different tasks simultaneously. But this biker, just by asking the name he went to the exact location, picked him up and said, "All done Madam". He started traveling to my house and in spite of all the city traffic he reached home safely at the right time. I was awestruck at his performance. Not only me, even my husband who was paying him at my house gate was talking about him without I saying anything about the driver. I didn't see him, nor I know him. But the conversation, the way of communicating with strangers, the confidence, the excitement in his voice and the enthusiasm he showed for the pick up and drop revealed who is as a person. We took his phone number for future preferences of travel and he left for the day. Without seeing a person, just by hearing his conversation and communication, he was creating an impact through his work. It was a great learning experience for me. How often can we impact or transform someone without even seeing them? Confessions of an EV Driver… As a new week begins, I am particularly reminded of the need to be willing to see things from someone else’s point of view. I have an unexpected guest in the form of my 83 year old father for a week. It is providing an opportunity for discussion like we have never had and is helping me to understand more of his life story and thus more of my family history. Being able to Walk a mile in his shoes, to understand where some of the ways in which he thinks has been healing and insightful. As always it gets me thinking about how this has application in the world of work, and in particular in the world of EV. So often we come at a conversation purely from our own perspective. As much as we value how we see things and might be wanting to help others see it our way…. The change of framing is only something which can be done by the other person when and in the way that they want to do it. So invest the time to understand, to listen to where they are coming from, to share what might be the same landscape from their point of view… I suspect you will have a more productive conversation As always love to hear your perspective and points of growth and learning.

I really want a HummerEV truck. ✅ I’m on the “preorder” list - I added myself in April of 2021. 4/7/2021 👀 I saw one this weekend for sale. I could not bring myself to buy it though. ❌ It is not practical for me - I don’t haul supplies. They had a HummerEV SUV available for sale too. ❌ It is not practical for my family as we travel monthly. It does not have a third row of seats to haul my daughter's friends around. ❌ I’m not a materialistic person. I want experiences. ❌ I’m not a “car guy”. I believe it will eat a Tesla - at least that is what I tell people. Its a fun game I play mentally. But it is ok to WANT. This concept is perfectly normal and one I practice daily. I’m giving you permission to want. 🐎 I also practice it with my daughters. Their responses are fun - $1 million, a horse, buy Universal Studios. But I’m not going to stop them from dreaming. I’m not going to stop dreaming and wanting. 💭 Wants = dreaming. Dreaming = wants. 💲 I don’t want to stop their creativity. Being creative is what has produced a significant amount of my wealth and income. Actually, by “wanting” it helps me create generative language models, as psychologists state. This is a bigger concept than I can explain here but essentially I talk about what is going to happen in the future. I want a HummerEV. I’ll probably get one one day. Or something better. But I’m also a completely different person than I was in April 2021. My wants are allowed to change. I want a helicopter more though. But, what I WANT MOST is to be on a trajectory to graduate 2,000 justice involved individuals annually through Advantage Reentry Services. I remember my first taste of freedom—getting my driver's license. I felt so free, so in control as I got into the car for the first time, alone. That is, until I got pulled over. "May I see your driver’s license, young lady?" the officer asked. Apparently, I was speeding. I started to cry as I handed it over. He smiled (I saw nothing worth smiling about in that moment) and said, "I see you're a new driver. Let me give you the same advice I gave my kids before they started driving solo." He went on to explain the responsibility that comes with getting a driver's license. He shared that our actions impact others and that freedom comes with a duty to make choices that are not all about me. Wait, what? That’s news to a 16-year-old! In other words, driving is a freedom that comes with responsibility. He never gave me a ticket. Talk about someone in a leadership position leading with compassion. That memory is as clear as yesterday. That day, I learned that my newfound freedom as a driver came with responsibility, something I never considered as a teenager. As we celebrate freedom and independence today, it’s important to remember the moral and ethical responsibility that comes with freedom. It shifts the idea of freedom as a self-centered privilege to a collective responsibility. Who would have thought that one of the best lessons I ever learned would come from getting pulled over? Have you used the power of Mom-Motivation? The day I turned 16, I got my driver's license. To be honest, my first license was a learner's permit. I drove my Dad home from my birthday dinner in a 1975 VW Rabbit, not unlike the one in the picture. It had a manual transmission and I stalled the car 47 times on the way home. Three weeks after obtaining a learner's permit, I went to take a road test to obtain my real driver's license. Thanks to my Mom, I had overcome my habit of choke-stalling. She didn't teach me anything, but watching her seamlessly slip the gas, slide the clutch, slip the clutch and tap the gas was frustrating. I turned my frustration into motivation. If Mom, a middle-aged woman, could do this, then I, a king-of-my-own-world teenager, could do it. Parallel parking was a bigger challenge, but, in a way, Mom was my motivator for that, too. Motivation isn't something you can rely on others to give you. But you can use observation of the skills others have as motivation to improve your own. Even if that "other" is your mother. #milestones There's a new driver in the house this morning. My daughter just passed her test. There is much excitement, and a lot of needing to sit down as we examine the options to get her insured. So, here's what it's made me think about. 1 - not all of our career milestones are nescessarily "career milestones". Passing a driving test opens doors that we don't see yet. Chance encounters, having kids, or encountering grief - these are all their own kind of milestones, and they have impact too - some immediate, some shrouded in time. 2 - Talking to her last night, it was evident how easily we interpret physical sensations and assign them labels. Her anticipatory jitters was nervousness, she told me. But, we pondered, could it not also be excitement at the idea of getting to have the freedom to drive where she wanted? How would she know which one it really was? Which would be more helpful? 3 - Time passes both quickly and slowly. It's really a blink of an eye in some ways since she took her first steps. And now she's driving! We pass this way but once. It's best to be in the time we're in. #progress #family #reflection #careermilestone

We are in a crisis where you have too many paths to take in life. Back in the day for example, if you ever decided to buy a motor vehicle, you tend to only have a couple options.
