The #MWC24! The event saw over 101,000 attendees, that was a 13% increase from last year. It was an intense week of customer engagement, partner insight, and industry debate. It's been a busy first two days at SXSW and we're not slowing down yet, with more insightful talks and workshops lined up. We've been all about AI so far but we're mixing that up today with conversations about the cloud and innovation in tech and design. #SXSW2024 #GRSXSW24

Is the pendulum swinging on public Cloud? I was at Cloud Expo in London last week and many of the themes were in line with current industry focus:  ·     AI everywhere – whether its SecOps, DevOps, NetOps, the common talking point is increased use of AI. ·     ZTNA and Identity being the cornerstone of all security discussions. But what surprised me the most was large floor space devoted to building data centers – it was over half of the exhibitor space (see area in green on the photo). ·     Some exhibitors focus on contract work for the hyperscalers, or specialized AI builds for shared use. ·     Plenty focus on either neutral colo space or private builds for enterprise, which they claim is booming. We have been hearing rumbling about de-clouding and this show makes it seem a real phenomenon. Hyperscalers and SaaS are here to stay of course, the question is whether private / hybrid data centers will play a meaningful role in all but a few niches. Last night I was able to speak with many of our top #MNtech leaders about the future of software and IT. Want the #protip (s)? I'm going to assume yes. 1. #GenAI enabled work will accelerate our ability to build #value while maintaining product cost in software development. 2. #COBOL bootcamps work and they will continue to enable us to keep our system of record (#SOR) off direct threat exposure by remaining "offline" of the general internet. 3. Hire #character. People can learn skills, but you can't teach character. 4. #Fire before forcing #RTO when you cannot trust someone.
