Some of the best research coming out of Canalys right now is in the topic of #sustainability. When we launched the research program a few years ago, some eyebrows were raised: why is the #channel team launching a sustainability program? The answer is simple: sustainability, particularly IT #circularity, is a shared #ecosystem problem. Vendors will not achieve their goals if they do not engage their downstream channel partners. I believe the work we have done in this field is world-class, from defining the 12 Rs of Circularity, to educating the landscape on best-practices. Hats off to Elsa Jasmine Nightingale, Ben Caddy and Rachel Brindley for their great insights and keeping this top of mind for the industry!

What is circularity? According to the Ellen MacArthur Foundation (a great foundation that we invite you to follow, by the way): "Circular economy is a system where materials are never lost, where nature is regenerated. In a circular economy, products and materials are kept in circulation through processes such as maintenance, reuse, refurbishment, remanufacturing, recycling, and composting." For us, at OJOA, it's a different vision of the economy: where everything transforms, everything optimizes right from the very conception. A vision where the untapped wealth of our world can instead find new uses and value for our society. Materials and goods can thus remain in circulation longer in our economy. We reduce our common losses and thus impact on our environment 🌍. At OJOA, circularity is an integral part of our business model. **REQUEST* Reuse and refill is still a BIG topic on people’s agenda’s and it’s opportunity to help brand do more with less is one of the reasons it’s always been a keystone of our Design for Life approach. Our Root Reuse and Refill report went down a storm last autumn and is still being downloaded 11months on. It has had hundreds of downloaders from around the world including leading global brands, packaging producers, raw material providers, reuse system providers, NGO’s and academics. On Nov 15th I’ll be facilitating the 'Opportunities of Reuse and How We Can Scale Up' panel at Packaging Europe's Sustainability Summit in Amsterdam where we have a fantastic line up of leading reuse experts:  WWF's Laura Griestop Again's Matt Kennedy Nestlé's Antje Shaw Kühner  Ellen MacArthur Foundation's Aisha Stenning and Tom Szaky from TerraCycle At Root, we are working on this year’s report and seeking two things: 1.
