👆 ♻ Juba sellel neljapäeval, 16.11 astub meie juhataja Andrus Treier üles Cleantech Forum Europe konverentsil paneelis "Packaging and Circularity: Solutions for Europe." Temaga koos on laval Holly Stower, Karl Pärtel ja Tobias Seikel. Rohkem teemast (eng) 👉In Europe, packaging design and waste management are transforming. Corporate commitments and EU regulations are banning plastics, waste exports, and promoting alternative materials, advanced recycling, and circularity. However, the transition isn’t without risks of greenwashing and new environmental challenges created by alternative materials. And those challenges are occurring even before we work out who is paying for this transition, how to clean up existing packaging pollution, and how to reduce the growing use of plastics. This panel will bring together innovators, investors, and corporates to discuss these challenges and showcase how they are navigating this transition in Europe. Another #EPO study is out, this time about patenting trends in the plastic industry. While we still need plastics in our every day lives, there are solutions to the plastic problem, from recycling, reusing, and alternatives to plastics. My favourite part of this study is chapter 3, "Alternative plastics", which covers bioplastics, and plastics derived from CO2, and the case studies. Check it out in the link below! 😊
Which countries are most active in creating a circular plastic industry? ♻️ Europe and the US are by far the leading global innovators, each accounting for 30% of inventions between 2010 and 2019. ♻️ Over the same period, Japan ranked third with 18% of inventions. We'll continue to support the work of inspiring inventors working on alternative plastics, recycling technologies and waste-reduction strategies. In the meantime, explore their work by reading the full #EPOStudy: https://lnkd.in/e28pXU5H #GlobalGoals #UNSDGs #UNSDG12 #GlobalGoals #PlasticPollution UNDP United Nations

Last week, our Chief Sustainability Officer and VP for Asia, Ying Staton, CFA spoke at the Cleantech Asia Forum in Singapore. 🇸🇬 She joined a panel with Nattawat (Nik) N. from GC Ventures and Geoffroy de LESSEPS from ALBA Group Asia, moderated by Holly Stower from Cleantech Group, to discuss plastic recycling as an important #cleantech sector to watch. They discussed themes including: 🔵 The importance of de-risking to make innovative #recycling business models viable 🔵 Clear, consistent and supportive policy as the foundational enabling factor for the scaling up of climate technologies 🔵 How to strengthen upstream and downstream supply chains, by working closely with waste collection companies and petrochemical producers 🔵 The key role LCAs play in demonstrating the environmental benefits of #advancedrecycling 🔵 Asia as the real battleground for plastic recycling, given its growing population, dependence on affordable packaged products, and underdeveloped waste management systems It was great for Plastic Energy to be featured alongside other #cleantech companies and to discuss many of the common challenges we face on scaling up and building supportive ecosystems. Continued investor appetite for #cleantech will be vital to develop the technologies and business models the world needs to reach the goals of the Paris Agreement.

The clear message from nearly 10,000 #circulareconomy experts from around the world was that implementing #circularity is crucial for securing economic prosperity and unlocking well-being by reducing the overuse of non-renewable natural resources. The forum, which took place in Brussels 15-18 April 2024, highlighted the importance of the EU’s role in accelerating the #transition to a circular economy globally. “Developing the EU’s single market to support circularity would create new business opportunities, jobs, and security for all Europeans. This would strengthen the EU’s strategic autonomy and #competitiveness. It would also send a powerful signal of a predictable investment environment,” says Atte Jääskeläinen, President of the Finnish Innovation Fund Sitra, the initiator of the #WCEF.
