I've rejected 20+ travel requests for this reason. Don't waste your money on 2-day, 2-night trips! As a travel entrepreneur with 15 years in the industry, I've noticed a troubling trend. More and more people are opting for quick 3-day, 4-night getaways. But here's the harsh truth: You're wasting the money. Why? Because most of your precious vacation time gets eaten up by travel. You'll barely spend one proper night at your destination before it's time to head back. Here's my pro tip: Aim for 5-6 nights minimum. That's when you truly get to experience a place, soak in the culture, and create lasting memories. I've seen a shift over the years. People used to plan week-long vacations, but now they're trying to cram everything into a long weekend. Trust me, it's not worth it. When clients come to me with these short trip ideas, I tell them straight up - don't do it. I won't even plan the trip because I know it won't give you the experience you deserve. 👇 Here's how to make travel decisions faster & easier. These are the FAQs I get as a travel advisor for almost 8 years: 🌍 How many places should we visit? 📍 How do we choose where to go? 🗓️ How long should we stay in each place? These are good, logical questions that need to be answered to plan a trip. But asking these questions alone aren’t going to lead to easy decisions. Trying to answer THESE questions will just leave you confused and overwhelmed because there’s no “right” answer, especially if you have a LONG list of places you want to go to. 😩 (Which is why people reach out to me because they keep spinning in circles and cannot crack the code.) 👉 The real secret to cracking the code - ASK BETTER QUESTIONS. That’s what I do when I hop on a call with prospective clients. For example, I spoke with a family with 3 boys ages 6-11 who are looking to take a 5-week trip to Europe this summer. They had a list of 10+ places on their list that they REALLY want to visit. Here are 2 questions I asked them: 1️⃣ What could you do on THIS trip that you wouldn’t be able to do on a future shorter vacation? 2️⃣ What do you want to prioritize experiencing for THIS trip at THIS age? ⬆️ This is particularly important when traveling with kids or seniors where age is a big factor in what you can do. These questions forced them to reframe what they were originally thinking for the trip and help them get clearer on their goals. ✨ Questions like these trigger new thoughts and help prioritization, which is key to making decisions. Q: Why should I use a travel agent when I can do it myself? Won't it cost me more? A: ABSOLUTELY NOT! When you book on a travel website like Expedia or Travelocity they have commissions built in to their prices already. So your paying a corporation that money. When you use a Travel Agent not only are you getting personalized service, you have a direct contact to go to for questions or to help deal with issues as they arise. Not to mention you are helping a small business. Travel agents also have access to some of the best discounts in the industry and can customize your trip to your needs. TIS THE SEASON... Okay, I know I usually only do my Travel Tips on Tuesday but I felt I should send out these tips given the seacon. The holiday season is always busy for travel, and it's already started. Here are a few tips to help you manage through the travel hustle and bustle. 1. Pack your patience. You will likely need a lot of if, but if not, it’s free and easy to pack. It doesn’t take up much space, but can make the difference between an easy or rough start to your vacation 2. Try to get seats in the front of the plane, and when you get off the plane, especially if it’s a big one-hustle! 3. Once you get off the plane, if needed, visit the first washroom that you see. Bring snacks and a water bottle. This will be helpful during a lengthy wait for checked baggage. 4. Expect to get baggage searched. They are searching more people than ever. If you can, only bring a carry-on. It will save time, money and lots of frustration. 5. Expect delays. With weather and the sheer number of planes flying in and out this time of the year, they are inevitable. 6. Check in advance any limits to importing goods into your destination country, limiting being pulled aside to pay duties and taxes. And to go along with the patience you packed, pack a smile! It's also free, smiling is contagious, and after all, you're on vacation, what's not to smile about?? 🙂 Happy Travels!!
