Susan Meell’s Post

“The Time Has Come….” I am excited to announce the time has come for me to pass the baton. As of June 30, 2024, I am fully retired as CEO of MMS Education and pleased to announce the promotion of Suzanne Caimi Lynn from President to CEO. Karen Ellis, my extremely valuable business partner for the past 38 years, and our Chief Strategy Officer, will continue to work her magic as she has all these years. As I reflect on my years at MMS, I am mindful of a quote from “The Magic Strings of Franki Presto”by Mitch Albom. The primary theme is that during our lives, we each join and play in different bands. “Everyone joins a band in this life. And what you play always affects someone. Sometimes, it affects the world.” “As life goes on, you will join other bands, some through friendship, some through romance, some through neighborhoods, school, an army. Maybe you will all dress the same or laugh at your own private vocabulary. Maybe you will flop on couches backstage, or share a boardroom table, or crowd around a galley inside a ship. But in each band you join, you will play a distinct part, and it will affect you as much as you affect it.” This quote seems to sum up my years at MMS Education so well. I joined the MMS band in 1986, led by founder Ed Meell (who became my dear husband many years later!). Karen had already joined, and over the years, many other employees joined the MMS band. Each played a unique role. Each of our clients had a band and we played a part in their band, and vice versa. We partnered with consultants, companies, vendors, and suppliers and each of them played a distinct part as well. I am so grateful for the opportunity to have played in the MMS band. It has been exciting, sometimes challenging, occasionally frustrating but most of all extremely fulfilling. I am proud of the work we have done, the ways we have helped our clients and the many ways we have made a positive impact in education, supporting administrators, teachers, students, and communities. To each of you who ever worked with MMS, as a client, consultant, vendor or employee, thank you for playing in our band and choosing us to play in yours. Thank you for trusting us, collaborating with us, and letting us help you achieve your goals. You touched us in so many ways and we hope we made a positive impact as well. As I leave MMS, I feel very blessed to have been affiliated with such a wonderful industry. I am so grateful for all the outstanding people with whom we have worked, thank you. And I am thrilled to know the MMS band will continue to play on. Read the press release here: https://lnkd.in/efNvpnrW
