“I’m walking in this Friday’s Manhattan Spring Commencement as I didn’t get to walk in last spring’s event because I was nine months pregnant. I’m currently starting my second semester of my master’s program and felt silly to walk for my bachelor’s. I am so grateful my husband pushed me to go. I worked so hard and that doesn’t deserve to go uncelebrated. I started my journey as a single mom working two jobs, fell in love, and had two more children throughout my undergrad. I never dreamed of going for my master’s, but I’m truly grateful for all the doors of opportunity SUNY Empire opened for me. I would’ve never been able to reach the point I am at now without their program.” — Gianna Rodriguez. Congratulations Gianna! We’re so happy you decided to walk across the stage and celebrate your hard work.
Congratulations to you. 🎓🎓🎓🎓🎓🥂🥂🍾🍾
Congratulations!!!! The walk is SOOO worth it for your children to see -- not to mention FOR YOURSELF!!!
Congratulations! As a single working mom of two who will also be walking on Friday, I didn’t think I’d make it but I was encouraged to walk by family and friends. And good luck on your Masters!
Congratulations!!!!!! I love your story!

1yThank you everyone! I thought me already being in a masters would dim that joy for walking in the bachelors but I was wrong. It was so awesome seeing how excited my husband and children were for me! Here’s to the rest of my journey.
