TRIMMING THE SAILS, “Downsizing to a Live Aboard 54’ ‘Boat
9/25/23
What if? What if? Really what if I don’t talk to you about 24 years of downsizing Seniors, moving families, clearing out estates? What if I bring it all personal and closer and I talk to you about “can I really let go of everything and move onto a 54’ live aboard?” I think this is going to be a very challenging decision, I think this is going to challenge everything my clients have been hiring me to help them with for all these years. What I think is …. even if I don’t choose the boat and the freedom from all these beautiful things I have lived with for years, some sentimental, some just gorgeous, I am going to grow and then share the process with you. Just to clarify, this is not a pie in the sky idea, I have said for the last 10 years that retiring in California is impossible but a boat in Europe ….- And I am a member of Oakland Yacht Club, Island Yacht Club and Commodore of the Single Sailors Association. And a delegate to PICYA. I know a lot of sailors/boaters. I hope you are aboard!!
Day 1: This was a bit easy, but I was committed. I am not going to overthink this capturing the process, and I may repeat myself over this next year, but it’s easier to let go of stuff if you know where it is going to!! This day was inspired by the upcoming 25th year of the Margo Brown Wheelchair Regatta. More than 200 veterans are signed up to be brought to the Encinal Yacht Club, Saturday, September 30, 9am. This event is planned by the PICYA, Pacific Inter Club Yacht Association, the veterans are mostly from our veteran homes and institutions, many of them Navy. They are so excited! COVID messed it up, but we are back. The Veterans receive “swag bags” of personal items. So, I started with my travel drawer to contribute to the swag bags. And then proceeded to all the spaces and drawers of the bathroom. What freedom.
Treasure Nugget: Make a list of where you can donate/give/recycle your stuff. Check my website, www.itsabreezemoving.com for ideas.
May the winds blow in your direction …
Cheers to trimming your sails and dumping the wind from the sails so you can move forward!!
