"I go into a gig with a lot of confidence. But the confidence isn't what you think..." Here's 60 seconds of advice from Josh Linkner that changed the way I think about speaking. Do you have a confidence-building technique before a performance or presentation? "Soundbytes with Suneel" are clips from interviews I've been conducting for my upcoming book, Backable, which is all about inspiring people to take a chance on you. #soundbyteswithsuneel #confidence #speaking #personalgrowth #mindsetshift
Josh .. great advise!! My students are stuck on presenting a perfect speech that when they make a mistake - they immediately get into a rut because they are to focused on the mistake they made. Look pigeon hole the word confidence and use it in a different way and you will succeed !! Thanks Josh !!
This is such great advice!!! I deal with these crises of confidence all the time. This is super helpful.
This is so interesting Suneel, such great advice, will definitely try it! Ps love ‘Soundbytes with Suneel :)

4yThe point that Josh Linkner makes here is absolutely critical, not only for speaking, but for just about everything we do. In moments of anxiety, like when you make a flub, we tend to move immediately to our comfort zones. If we've made ourselves comfortable in recriminating self-reflection, that's where we go and things can get worse...fast. If we've made ourselves comfortable with being present and moving forward, the mistake is quickly in past and holds so much less influence over the next moment and the next. Josh recognizes his ability to recover and move ahead rather than in executing with perfection. Wow. What an amazingly constructive way to do things.
