Last week presented me with the special opportunity to take charge of the assembly session, an experience that turned out to be both enriching and memorable. This occasion allowed me to impart valuable skills and knowledge to the learners, nurturing them in various aspects of personal growth. One of the key focuses during this session was teaching the learners the art of self-prayer. Instilling in them the ability to communicate their thoughts and wishes through prayer is a vital aspect of their holistic development. Acknowledging and celebrating excellence is a practice that I hold dear. In light of this, I took a moment to commend those who exhibited exceptional discipline by dressing neatly and properly. By doing so, I aimed to reinforce positive behavior and inspire others to emulate these commendable traits. Another significant highlight of the week was the introduction of an energizer activity. This exercise was designed to invigorate their bodies and minds, preparing them for the day's tasks ahead. The energizer served as an engaging way to kickstart the day. To add an element of vibrancy to the session, I revived some previously forgotten marching songs. Reflecting on the week, it was a delightful and enriching experience for both the learners and myself. The atmosphere was filled with laughter, learning, and a palpable sense of camaraderie. Witnessing the learners actively participate and absorb the lessons was truly gratifying. At our school kickoff this year, we spoke about the power and privilege of what we do -- educating the world's children. We talked about academic excellence and the heart required to be an effective school. Collectively, we made five commitments: 1. We commit to being open to feedback – to acknowledge that learning is the work – and to make a personal commitment to being the best at getting better. 2. We commit to try to live by the rule, ‘Always empower, never disempower,’ with both students and colleagues. 3. We commit to ‘leaning in’ to teamwork – to leverage norms of collaboration in doing our best work possible as a school. 4. We commit to trying to notice the small things – to saying, ‘I see you. I value you.’ 5. We commit to have fun this year; to laugh freely; to give ourselves and others grace; to live with gratitude; and to find joy in what we do. An Unexpected Delights:😜😜😜😜😜😜😜 A Tale of Courage💪💪, Gifts🎁🎁, and Connection👬👬 Yesterday dawned with a simple request from a fellow staff member at school. They sought my help in interpreting at the PTA meeting, something I hadn't tried before. Despite my initial uncertainty, I decided to give it a shot, embracing the opportunity to learn and contribute in a new way. As the day unfolded its chapters, I found myself pleasantly surprised by my capabilities. It turns out, I could indeed handle the task, and uncovering this newfound skill within myself filled me with a sense of empowerment. But the magic of yesterday didn't end there. As the hours drifted by, a delightful moment unfolded. Three of my students rushed up to me, brimming with joy, bearing thoughtful gifts🎁🎁. Their gestures overwhelmed me with gratitude, serving as gentle reminders of the true essence of teaching. The warmth and affection of my students not only illuminate my day but also weave a tapestry of belonging within our classroom community. In reflection, yesterday's experiences whispered a profound truth: stepping beyond our comfort zones can unveil unexpected treasures and foster genuine connections. 😎 What's the best office prank you've experienced and why? 😰 Some dismiss them as shenanigans, which can only go wrong. 😀 Others recognise their power to build stronger relationships & boost team moral. 😄 It's where humour meets productivity & laughter blends with teamwork. Today I was at a secondary school for my weekly mentoring session with my young person. I learn something new every time I visit. It happened to be a "Prank" day at the school. The sixth formers were celebrating finishing school - no more lessons, only A level exams left to take. 😁 As you can imagine there was more excitement and energy than normal. ☣ Wanted Posters were up offer rewards for the most dangerous students. 🌊 Water Cannons were being used purposefully around the school. 🦆 10,000 miniature yellow ducks were hidden for students to find. 🤠 Sixth Formers were in cowboy/girl fancy dress. 👏 It was great to see all the staff and pupils embracing the spirit of the occasion and also see first hand the positive impact it had on the young person I mentor. #teambuilding #moral #culture #motivation #leadership #pranks #teamwork #productivity #coaching #mentoring #teamspirit
