At the beginning of this month, Eni and Weatherford successfully deployed and tested the 9 5/8'' Non Umbilical Downhole Deployment Valve (NU DDV). It's the third application in the Mediterranean area, but a first time for a 9 5/8'' size installed into a casing tieback. Insiders normally name this technology in short as "Casing Valve". Eni and Weatherford worked on the development of this technology before Covid for subsea wells, removing the need for control lines and installing a new-generation system to operate the valve based on Radio Frequency technology. In the last years, we've worked side by side with our business units abroad to install such systems, aiming at reducing even further the blowout risk in challenging wells. During the last 12 months, as part of the final phase of our R&D project for system development, upgrade and deployment, I've been involved in the entire process for the 9 5/8'' NU DDV installation during well operations, going onboard the drilling rig for working procedures finalization, DDV installation into the well and its testing. The lessons learnt in the previous applications allowed us to develop an optimized testing procedure, once the valve is installed, capable of clearly interpreting the correct opening and closing of the valve. A success story, and still with a lot of improvements achievable to make this technology more and more effective. On a side note...the great thing about R&D is that you don't just stick around your desk in the office. Such projects for new technologies and initiatives give you the opportunity to integrate the "usual" office work with the possibility to perform activities on the field: what you get is nothing short but proper job satisfaction. #researchanddevelopment #onsite #subsea #welloperations #newtechnologies

"Without a solution, the leak would ultimately affect the critical supply of gas needed for Philippines power production." That was the worst case scenario facing the team as they worked for a solution on the leaking Xmas tree flange. At IK Subsea, we don't shy away from big challenges, in fact, it's our main arena. We specialise in doing the impossible! Read the case study below to find out how we did it! #subseaengineering #subsea #brilliantengineering #casestudy Adrian Gamman Christian Knutsen

Unlock Efficient Access to Subsea Christmas Trees with Quartic! Accessing subsea wells in Petrobras' brown fields poses significant challenges. Equipment from 30-40 years ago lack maintenance and are outside of design lifetime. Operators acquiring such fields frequently face large lead times to remanufacture obsolete equipment. On top of that, it gets really challenging when many different types, generations and models from suppliers of subsea XMT need to be accessed. Quartic took on this challenge and streamlined the manufacture process by combining several different similar interfaces, strategically selecting essential functions, simplifying toolset to cut down the number of different tools required, thus minimizing cost, lead time and enhancing operational efficiency. Rather than waiting years for highly expensive new tools, we, alongside our partners, develop custom-made systems using reverse engineering to identify the minimal interface required for the fabrication of modern tools. Our end-to-end support includes system development and tool operation support, ensuring a seamless process from beginning to end. Contact us today to learn how Quartic can tailor solutions to meet your needs. #SubseaEngineering #OilAndGas #EngineeringSolutions #OperationalEfficiency #Innovation

And the time to wait is no longer with us! Subsea7 just confirmed the Major Contract from Petrobras for #Búzios9 Field Development Congrats to all involved! This is remarkable indeed. The company shall be responsible for the engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation, and pre-commissioning of approximately 102 kilometers of rigid risers and flowlines for the steel lazy wave production system at the Búzios 9 field. The offshore operations are scheduled for execution in 2026 and 2027. But why this is important? This award reinforces Subsea 7’s strong track record in Brazil and underscores their commitment to delivering high-quality solutions. Búzios 9 is a critical project, and Subsea 7’s expertise will play a pivotal role in its successful development. Subsea 7’s involvement will contribute to increasing oil production capacity and enhancing Petrobras’ overall operational efficiency. #OilandGas #EnergyIndustry #OffshoreProjects #EngineeringExcellenc Source: https://lnkd.in/eKAiBe_E

Decommissioning Engineer at Enauta & SPE Latin America & Caribbean Regional Director | Well Construction | Drilling | Well Integrity | Well Test | Completação | Well Completion | Engenheiro de Petróleo
👉🏻 TODAY!!! April 9th! 🔵 SPE Brazil Tech Tuesday 🔵 📍 Where: SPE Brazil Section Youtube Channel (Tech Tuesdays are also accessible to all other SPE sections in LATAM and elsewhere) Link: https://lnkd.in/d7wwZRt8 🗓 When: April 09th at 6:30PM UTC-3 ➡ In this Tech Tuesday edition, we'll go through a brief history of source control & recent advances in subsea well response. The 2nd part of the event will be a panel discussion with the moderators. Speaker: 🔷 Brett Morry - Subsea Manager - Oil Spill Response Ltd Moderators: 🔷 Pierre-Edouard (PE) Vincent - Completions and Well Intervention Manager - Trident Energy 🔷 Fred Maia (FM Eng e Consultoria Óleo Gas Engenharia e Consultoria) - Regulations Consultant - F&M ➡ Abstract: Brett Mory with OSRL will in this SPE Brazil Tech Tuesday present a brief history of Source Control (started on land with the famous pictures of #blowouts in the USA, late 19th century), then moving to the offshore search for oil & gas, incidents, catastrophic spills (infamous incidents from the 80’s) and more recently as the industry kept pushing the envelope, major #offshore blowouts from the late 2000’s (Australia and GoM). This will lead our discussion to consider the potential impact of source control incidents, and how Subsea Well Response is currently evolving with typical options like Capping, Containment, and Relief Well Drilling also being complemented by additional (necessary) work on preparedness, leveraging global expertise, and mutual support between actors in the industry. At the end of the presentation, a short Q&A will be held with the audience and moderators. #wearespe #techtuesday #oilandgas #subsea #wellresponse SPE Brazil Section

Aker BP concludes every year with a townhall highlighting deliveries the organisation is proud of – large and small. The competition is called “To be proud of”, and the jury is the Executive Management Team in Aker BP. Another winner of 2023 is the Yggdrasil Common system design freeze. Before the summer, the Yggdrasil development passed the common system design freeze. Then, the interfaces and battery limits relevant for the common systems are frozen, and all field system responsible identified. Reaching this milestone was crucial for the further maturation and coming engineering milestones in the Yggdrasil development. The Yggdrasil area consists of three independent platforms, tie-ins of subsea fields, onshore power from shore facilities, onshore operations centre and a ground-breaking operations strategy. The interfaces are complex, and this is probably the most complicated interface project ever on the Norwegian shelf. Peter Kupka Oda Giske Schjøll #Yggdrasil #oneteam #tobeproudof
