YouTube golfers invited to compete for a PGA Tour spot 👀👀
Is this a genius marketing move to get people interested in a new event?
Here are the details —
The Myrtle Beach Classic (a new event on the PGA TOUR in May) invited 8 YouTube golfers and 8 aspiring PGA Tour players to compete in an 18-hole event called "The Q at Myrtle Beach".
The winner of "The Q" will receive an unrestricted sponsor exemption into the Myrtle Beach Classic, a legitimate PGA TOUR event with a $3.9 million purse and FedExCup points on the line.
The 8 YouTuber's are:
• Grant Horvat: 1.35 million subscribers/followers across social media
• Peter Finch: 1.25 million subscribers/followers
• Micah Morris: 1 million subscribers/followers
• Nick Stubbe: "Fat Perez" of Bob Does Sports, 1 million subscribers/followers
• George Bryan IV: half of Bryan Bros. Golf, 410k subscribers/followers
• Luke Kwon: member of Good Good, 400k subscribers/followers
• Cole Lantz: half of BustaJack, 350k subscribers/followers
• Dan Rapaport: member of Barstool Sports, 250k+ subscribers/followers
The results of "The Q" will be announced today (4/23) and the winner will tee it up on the PGA Tour on May 9th.
What do you think about this concept? Do you think this is a smart way to engage a broader audience?
