Scott Patterson, Seth B. and I had a superb visit with the Amazon team in Newcastle, UK this week. The work that they are doing around increasing reliability of their Fire Protection Systems and improving visibility is a great example of end-users driving innovation in this industry. One thing stuck out to me more than anything else during our discussion onsite. While fire pump systems are not considered to be “process systems” directly involved in production, operations, etc. their reliability is actually as important. If the fire pump system is impaired conveyors, sorters and robots can’t run and people can’t occupy the building costing significant $$$/€€€! Reliability and uptime is critical.
