80th Anniversary of D-Day Freedom has a price… On 06 June 1944, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord - a massive invasion of Normandy, France with more than 150,000 troops. Ending with nearly 20,000 casualties on each side, it was a pivotal battle of World War II and the beginning of a prolonged, costly and ultimately successful campaign to liberate north-west Europe. Western leaders including President Macron, President Joe Biden and King Charles were present at Normandy on 06 June 2024 to commemorate the 80th anniversary of D-Day- the greatest amphibious landing in history. Among those present at the impressive ceremony were few survivors of D-Day, some aged over 100 years and their relatives. Functions are being held across the US and Europe at a time when Europe is in the middle of its most bloody war since World War II. To get "full effect" of the distinct WWI engines, sync a Bluetooth SIG to a JBL Professional speaker (anyone will do!) and crank it up. It will sound like a B-25 just flew by your house! Watch a couple times! It's short and a little addictive - especially for history buffs. Video should be about the "experience" as much as the message and subject matter. LinkedIn is a great way to share this experience! It's also something that can be "repurposed" effectively - something companies like Content 10x do well and assist clients in doing the same. 80 years ago, the eyes of the world were upon Allied troops as they fought their way onto the shores of Normandy, France, to take Europe back from the Nazis. Today, we remember the 160,000 service members who took part in that pivotal mission. Their sacrifices have not been forgotten. At the close of WW2, after the Axis was defeated by the Allies, the forces of evil that orchestrated the whole thing had to reorganize and drive the Allies, namely Russia and America apart. In fact, a British general and the first secretary general of NATO, Hastings Ismay, famously stated that the purpose of the organization was “to keep the Russians out, the Americans in, and the Germans down.” What’s even less known is that NATO was an employment program for former WW2 Nazis. In 1963, in the communist Czechoslovakia operating under Soviet Union "guidance", and in full Cold War, I know for sure that the direct miltary spending was ca 40% of GDP and got over 50% when indirect military expenses were included. These were not public figures; I got them from a guy, fresh University-level economist, who worked at the governmental Central Planning Office. I was in a military course with him, we were friends, and he had no interest at all in telling me BS. Now, what I want to say by this is that peoples well-being during the Cold War was certainly the last thing on the minds of those who governed the East Block. And since Putin comes from the same couldron, it is most likely not on his mind even today. In my opinion, he will drive Russia's military spending up to nearly 50%. What it means for us in NATO Countries I do not know, apart from the obvious fact that we must maintain unity.

D-Day: June 6, 1944, is known most commonly by the term D-Day and refers to the landing of Allied forces on the beaches of Normandy, France. Troops staged one of the most pivotal attacks against Germany during World War II. The codename Operation Overlord became known as the beginning of the end of World War II. Following the Battle of Normandy along a 50 mile stretch of beaches, including Utah and Omaha Beach, the attack became known as D-Day. While many explanations exist for the name, one reason may be due to the military countdown. The countdown designated the day and hour of the assault. D represented Day and H represented Hour in the military. The battle liberated Northern France. Britain, the United States and Canada sent more than 160,000 Allied troops under the leadership of General Dwight Eisenhower. The troops manned more than 5,000 ships and 13,000 aircraft the day of the initial landing. After nearly five years of war, D-Day represents a vital turn in the war. During World War II, much of the world faced tragedy and hardships. D-Day continues to be a significant point in the war.
