From groundbreaking to upfit, our journey with Resurrection Presbyterian Church has been extraordinary. Transforming this site into a vibrant campus while Greyfriars Classical Academy continues its day-to-day activities has been a rewarding challenge. The progress is visible from all angles as nearly 20k square feet of new space has taken shape. We're thrilled to transition into the upfit phase for both the Education Building and Fellowship Hall. These spaces will provide modern classrooms, conference areas, offices, an upgraded kitchen, and vibrant activity areas. It's inspiring to think of the countless lives these facilities will touch for decades to come. Our dedicated design and construction teams, Hendrick Construction, WKWW Architects and ECS Limited, have been instrumental in bringing this vision to life. Their expertise and collaborative spirit have made every milestone possible. We're honored to contribute to this transformative project, ensuring it not only meets but exceeds the needs of the congregation and the students at Greyfriars Academy. #communitybuilders #transformingspaces #buildingforgood #charlottenc #nonprofit #nonprofitorganization #nonprofits #projectmanagement #constructionmanagement #clt #smallbusiness #charlottebusiness #clientpartnership #projectmanagementsuccess

Should planners broaden ground floor regulations to include residential uses?Though controversial in some circles, Larisa Ortiz (managing director, public non-profit solutions) argues that this is an elegant solution to two troubling and converging trends: too much vacant retail space, and too little housing. 🌟 Exciting Possibilities for Housing Innovation! 🏡💡 Great piece discussing the conversion of vacant retail spaces into housing. What a game-changing idea, especially for buildings with three or fewer residential units above. The concept becomes even more appealing if there are mechanisms to incentivize some of these conversions with "owner-occupied” with first time homebuyers programs. This approach not only revitalizes unused commercial vacant spaces but also fosters community engagement and stability. Moreover, with the financing already in place, opening doors for FHA 2-4 multi-family loans, the potential for transforming these spaces into vibrant living hubs is more attainable than ever before. Kudos to the visionaries driving such innovative solutions in the realm of urban development and housing! Let's continue exploring creative avenues to address vacant commercial real estate challenges and create more sustainable, inclusive communities. 🌆🏘️💫 #HousingInnovation #UrbanDevelopment #CommunityRevitalization #SustainableLiving #CreativeSolutions #OwnerOccupied #FHA2-4Loans #APlanningMagazine #Streetsense #RealEstate

Just over four years ago we were asked to carry out a #fundraising feasibility study and recommend a fundraising #strategy for the Grade I listed St Mary's church in Bloxham, Oxfordshire. Plans to improve the interior had been evolving for about a decade. We presented our findings and recommendations and were later asked to provide fundraising support. We have kept in close contact ever since. So we were delighted to receive an invitation to the official opening of the new church facilities: two 'pods' that have been installed for kitchen, toilets and choir changing space (shown inset). The mood was very positive as we joined a crowd of around 100 to celebrate the occasion with choral and orchestral performances, speeches from the project team, architect and vicar, and a blessing on the facilities. Key takeaways: - This is phase 1. Their journey has taken longer and cost more than they ever imagined. (We tell this to all the churches we work with when we start out... then they learn it by experience!) - Unexpectedly they had to go to Ecclesiastical Court to fight objections to the curved design of the pods... and won! Their case is now part of case law. - However, costs more than doubled as a result of inflation and the delays caused in part by Covid and mainly by fighting the objections. As a result they are still around £140k short of the funding they need this phase. - They will pause for a time and consolidate before starting on Phase 2. So it's been a long and sometimes arduous journey but the fruits of their endeavours are there for all to see and enjoy. Conclusion? It shows that, with a realistic plan and a lot of belief, hard work and persistence, the seemingly impossible can be achieved. Well done to all at St Mary's Bloxham! This is great on so many levels
TONIGHT: Friday 27th October 2023, the first year students of the BSc in Architectural Technology at TU Dublin Bolton St. will build their own shelters and Sleep Out at Grangegorman Campus Central Quad to support the fight Against Homelessness as part of Focus Ireland’s Shine A Light initiative. By sleeping out, we hope to both raise awareness about homelessness, help raise vital funds to support homeless services, and to instill good learning outcomes relating to building design, performance, and thermal comfort. 9 teams of 7 students are challenged to create a structure that will house their group overnight, maintain 20 degrees Celsius temperature internally, achieve 100 lux daylight levels, and *stay dry* overnight. Crucially, this year there is an emphasis on the structure being deconstructable and materials reusable for next year’s effort; hopefully achieving good learning outcomes about sustainability and a good cause! Please donate if you see value in the cause and the students’ endeavours. https://lnkd.in/eag9yi8x #tudublin #architecture #sustainability #circulareconomy #focusirelandshinealight2023 #focusireland
